Hallelujah! I'm finally done reading this novel. Took me a little longer than I thought. I have to say I enjoyed it.

Wow.... I don't know where to start. I guess I'll start with the "Revelation." Let me fist preface this by saying I didn't read any reviews except for one members when I first joined... Couldn't help it.... It was a bad review... I read on.

The revelation that I had was that Stephen King is not a author of Horror... (Well he is that too but. read on.) I had this feeling previously, after reading many of his short stories and novels but dismissed it to some degree thinking I may be looking too deep. I was wrong.

Sure there are scary components, climaxes and horrifying descriptions but the real talent, the real mastery is in the ability to evoke our childhood memories, feelings, disappointment, heartbreak, passion, anguish, loss, addiction, family, relationships and pain that we all experience but may have supressed or forgotten.

The "horror" is only the sizzle in this book. The "steak" is the aforementioned human attributes, tendencies and weaknesses that are discribed and portrayed with utmost care, remembrance and underlying compassion. Thank You!

Remember your first love? Jamie and Astrid....ohhhh. The ongoing description of this relationship, perfectly perfect! Do you remember? The loss of a loved one to some senseless disease or crime...questioning of our faith and reality... What is beyond?

Reading and following Jamie's progression through life is an extraordinary exercise in the eradication of ADHD. You have to slow down and READ... You have to pay attention and if you don't, you miss all of the little nuances and foreshadowing that keeps you thinking and ties everything together later.

There much more to this novel than what I've commented on as it seems to touch on almost everything that comes at you in life.

Just awesome.

So glad you enjoyed the book. Spot on in your post!

Thanks Spidey. I blurted this out as soon as I was done but after reading, I left a lot out. Obviously from a "reading/writing " perspective, the evolution of The Rev. was phenomenal and I left that out. Figured that went without saying and the fact that SK covered so many areas including interracial relationships, what if the after life is worse than what we have, music, environment to some degree.....big one actually, really when you look at it. And excuse the language but I believe it is warranted.... It is ****ing genius.

This is it exactly! The reason I love to read Stephen King books. It's too bad everyone doesn't know this about him.
