Power issues on the Nook?

Power issues were just the start. Then it deleted everything I had saved on there except books. Then I could no longer download or access apps. The internet stopped working on there, but I still used it for an e-reader. Finally that stopped working too.
By that time I had my phone (which is huge) and the nook app is really good, so I no longer miss it.

Set aside In the Night Season about half way through - just can't get into it. Gave my mom City of Bones after I finished and she's almost done reading it. So, trying to find another book for her to enjoy, I started The Taking by Koontz (one of my fifty cent used book store buys). I'm hoping this one is decent enough for mom to read next.

the writers of today, novelists, have such a different style to those of the 70.'s/80's and 90's. To be honest, I prefer the true grittiness of the old school styles, same with the older movies. I have been watching lots of Youtube - TV Terrorland, love those old creepy tv films. In NZ in the old days, before the wonderful invention of Youtube, we did not have access to these. Got the odd good TV movie, but there are so so many. Anyone seen Terror On The Beach, starring Dennis Weaver? Kind of like a cheapish Duel, but not too bad at all!!! So much to choose from re those old American TV flicks!!

I liked The Taking. I liked the ending- it caught me by surprise, I didn't see it coming at all, which is hard to do with all of the thriller/horror novels I've read in my lifetime.

it's amazing. ABC's Movie of the Week...the retro intro, I feel like I've escaped from reality just listening to the soft music and watching the colourful, spacey credits. Miss that era so very much. TV and film are just slick and obvious these days, and there is never ever soft focus or subtle story lines, etc!!

This gives me hope! I'm excited to delve in further (only read about five chapters so far). Am even more excited this could be one my mom likes too! :)

Bad form, replying to my own post, I know, but just wanted to add, when I bring up Youtube, and the endless selection avail. (old films for TV), I feel like a kid about to be loosed in a giant candy shop! Boy, did they get churned out or what!!
