One of the best representatives of the so called scandinavian noir crimebooks has passed away in Cancer at the age of 67. A bit uneven but his best were really good. Faceless Killers and One step Behind are my favourites of his.

I like both the Swedish and English TV adaptations of some of his stories. Kenneth Branagh is good in the English adaptations.
The not as good as the Jesse Stone TV series which is brilliant, and Tom Selleck is fantastic in it.

Yeah, but they missed what is so typical of mankell, his swdishness. But they have made far too many adaptions in swedish. The original books have run out and they are writing their own original scripts now. It has been an industry.... Sigh...
