My wife and I got to observe the historic Blood Moon last night. We decided we wanted to watch it from a key place in Derry/Bangor. My only regret is that I didn't have a tripod and a camera designed for night photography. Here is a shot showing the Standpipe with the Moon a red dot just to the left of it in the sky.

Here, of course, is a zoom in on the moon.

And here is the most zoom I could muster.

I visited Bangor for the first time in August. Stayed at the Bangor Ramada Suites. Saw the Rite Aid, the inspiration for many Derry landmarks, the airport mentioned in Insomnia, but couldn't find the Standpipe or Stephen King's house. The locals didn't even know what the Standpipe was. But I had a good time. Visited a park nearby but got creeped out. Seemed like some nefarious acts were going down, lol. I hope to drive back and see Ellsworth. Have any suggestions? Thanks.

Do come back and let me know when you are coming. I'll show you the Standpipe... and a bunch of other Bangor/Derry landmarks besides. The Standpipe is actually visible in many parts of town, as it is on the highest point, but getting there can be easy to miss. It is easy to miss West Broadway too, because many people end up on Broadway assuming that one end or the other will be "west" Broadway. That isn't the case. It is a different road entirely. :D

Very nice!

I took a few pics with my phone camera here in Winnipeg which did not turn out too bad. Nice eerie shot of the Standpipe!
