Has anyone here read Jude Devereaux?
I havn't read any of her novels. I'm not real crazy about romances but I do like historical romances sometimes. Have you read any that stand out?

Yes! I have to confess that I like her books. She is not on my list of have-to-read authors, but, when the time is right, her stories fill a place.Has anyone here read Jude Devereaux?
I'm okay with historical, too. I was sent Devereaux's next one (out in May, I think) to review, and I've never read anything by her. I was wondering what to expect Let me see if I can think of any historical romances I liked. I'm more likely to read a historical with lighter romantic aspects, if you get what I mean. There was one I reviewed that made me laugh--What Happens in Scotland is the title, and I think the author was Jennifer McQuiston. That one was clever and funny--a historical version of "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas"--and focussed on that rather than overblown sex scenes. And I learned something I didn't know: the blacksmith kept the register of marriages! I thought that was made up, but nope--historically accurateI havn't read any of her novels. I was just looking at this one in B&N and wondering if it was worth picking up! Let me know what you think as you get further alongI started another series (I will live but I will not learn *sigh*). I'm reading Wool by Hugh Howey. It's a post appocaliptic story. I'm having problems visualizing the silo and I'm beginning to think some sci-fi works better on the screen than in print.
She's old-school romance, right? Not a lot of nasty sex?Yes! I have to confess that I like her books. She is not on my list of have-to-read authors, but, when the time is right, her stories fill a place.
Gave up on "the Woods".
Now starting "In the Quiet" by Eliza Henry Jones.
As I recall, its been awhile. Not exactly a bodice buster, the history tempers that and I don't remember any nasty sex.... Which I definitely would remember. She's old-school romance, right? Not a lot of nasty sex?
I love reading about that era. Recently read Anna Karinina and Dr. Zhivago. I've also read a lot about Nicholas II.I'm currently reading "Idiot" by Dostoevsky. Recommended if you wanna feel the Russian Empire in the late of 19th century. How did the people live, feel and love. Outstanding novel.
Just subscibed to it myself. Also, like a few other members here, highly recommend BookBub. The best thing to happen to ebooks! You choose the genres you enjoy and a price limit and they email recommendations daily for free.
I get so many free books and very low cost books that I'd otherwise never had heard of.
Dug through my pot luck pile of obscure used paperbacks, looking for some seventies trash gold. Reading something called Belinda by someone called Mary Loos--all about the wheelers and dealers of old school Hollywood. Not bad so far--I guess it's a sort of sequel to another book about old, old school Hollywood called The Beggars Are Coming. Shades of Harold Robbins, The Carpetbaggers. Not bad. Sometimes, after reading great literature, you gotta cleanse yer palate with a little trash.
Gonna write my own homage to 70s style trash fiction one of these days. Something over-the-top, borderline stupid, about decadent fat cats boozing it up, snorting coke, having depraved sex and flying around the world. Just go overboard with degenerate cliches, just fer the fun of it.
Yeesh, my trouble is I have TOO MANY ideas.
