Well, I just watched Madonna's tribute to His Royal Bad*ss. Her rendition of Nothing Compares To You was good- I felt the emotion from her. But, they screwed up Purple Rain. Could've been an exquisite moment by singing his signature song with audience participation but they opted for a 'Las Vegas' quickie.......

...given the addictive property of the drug....he should never had had it in his possession, he should have been going to a pain clinic and having it administered.....or, had his own staff physician who could have gone with him on tours....he certainly had the money and smarts to have attracted a very good MD.....again, no one is a winner in this sorry mess....

This is all completely true, Scott, but he was in the 'public eye' and was probably ashamed that he had succumbed to the addictive qualities of these drugs. He would fire musicians if he found out that they were even smoking weed, let alone taking any other harder types of drugs, if they refused any type of treatment that he himself would pay for. These drugs are insidious in their addictive qualities. I still am finding it very hard to believe that he died because of this. He was a smart man and this is what makes it so hard for me to believe that he died this way. I didn't personally know him, even those in his 'inner' circle are stunned about the overdose.

....given his quirks, he was I'm sure doubly ashamed of his hypocrisy and addiction....this is why drugs are the self-administered free passes to the devil.....I don't frown on him for what happened....it just shows he was as fallible and weak as the rest of us....my heroes all have warts.....
