I am a fan. I just read Written. My favorite is the snow and ashes book
I have a hard time picking a favorite because I'm in love with the entire series; they all meld into one story. I just want to be in that world sometimes- I wouldn't last more than a day in reality because I would die of an asthma attack or stick out like a sore thumb! Reality? You know what I mean. I'm stuck on the sappy
love story between Jaime and Claire

I read the first one, but never got past it. What the heck else could happen? She threw everything AND the kitchen sink in there--lol. Still, a lot of people whose opinions I respect like the series, so...Someday, maybe. I bought the bundle of 5 or 6 books (can't remember which) for $1.99 from Amazon last year.

Ummm . .
Jaime and Claire separate through time for twenty years. She raises his daughter with her husband, Frank. Jaime marries Loghaire for a bit, impregnates an aristocrat's daughter who dies in childbirth. The child, Willliam, is raised by Lord John who has a complicated friendship with Jaime. They reunite when Claire's husband dies and wind up fighting in the American Revolutionary War

I have read, not all but most of them, and my opinion is that she has wrong all the juice she can get from Jamie and Claire now. Finish it. Start a new independent series (not counting the John books that is an offspring of Outlander) and i might be interested. The first book was without a doubt the best one. In the rest Jamie and Claire are just as strong as characters but they are not Surrounded by as good secondary characters as earlier which makes the books less interesting (the MacKenzies, Murtagh, Randall and so on). She can write so i am sure she can do it but drop Jamie and Claire and let them rest in peace, they have deserved it.

I love this series... I'll be very sad when it's finished.

Make sure to read the Lord John books, the Exile and the anthology short stories. Not sure where I can put books 9 & 10 since I'm out of room :(

(Pictured are the novels/novellas. Shorts can be found in Warriors, Warriors II, Songs of Love and Death, Dangerous Women, and The Mad Scientist's Guide to World Domination.)

I haven't read any of the Lord John novels yet as I wasn't sure they would compare well to the Outlander series. Does it fill in any gaps with Outlander or is it just more backstory about Lord John?

It does fill in somewhat but they are more mystery stories. The Scottish Prisoner is about Jamie and Lord John and the time between Dragonfly & Voyager. It can stand alone and I would definitely read that one!

Thanks! At the rate I've been going lately with my reading it will probably end up on my TBRWIR (to be read when I'm retired) pile.
