It's currently being rerecorded with new readers and will be unabridged.

I have a question about the new paperback that comes out next year. Will it come with any new content, maybe some new introductions to the stories, or different story notes? Will there be any interesting promotions for it? Also, is this new release part of that rights deal that was made for some of his back catalogue? (It would be great if a new story were attached, or maybe one from the old days...how about "The Crate?")

Also, if possible, please forward the following request to the publisher/editor responsible for the Crew release. I would love at least an update of the introduction, especially to find out how the interaction with his friend Wyatt turned out (for those who can't remember, reread the intro about that) and maybe a comment on the new economics of publishing as he sees them now, and how his status in publishing compares to where he was when he wrote the intro. Thanks.

That is an excellent idea! Re read the intro about that. . . Note to self, pick up Skeleton Crew at the second hand store today. . .
(I was really young when I read it the first time)

Very unlikely as he has too much else on his schedule to do.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is it unabridged ? Is It the Frank Muller version ? I'm dying to know!

I have been sorting all my audio and can tell you a few things regarding your question.
Frank Muller did not always have the exceptional voice, he died with. Well, either that or the audio productions back in the 80's just sucked. I'd say it was a combination of both.

With that being said, don't expect to hear the Frank Muller you love to be heard in his early audio books. His voice is hardly even detectable in his early works as compared to later. Yes, it changed THAT much! His voice was not bad, just not magical as in stories such as "The Talisman" and "Dark Towers."

Frank Muller was the first to record the audio book "Skeleton Crew." First four releases were around 1985

1st Release named, "Skeleton Crew Book One" - 6 Cassettes - 9 Hours (About Half or the stories) - Does not include "Mist."

2nd Release named, "Skeleton Crew Book Two"- 5 Cassettes - 7.5 Hours (The second half of the stories) - Does not include "Mist."

3rd Release - 11 Cassettes - (I'm guessing 16.5 Hours) - Does not include "Mist."
The first 3 releases did not include the story "Mist."

4the Release - 14 Cassettes - Includes the story "Mist."

All of the stories in the first 4 releases were narrated by Frank Muller in his earlier voice.
I have no knowledge of these ever being released on CD.

If I can find a voice sample of one of these, I'll past the link for you.

--- This only accounts for US releases and does not take in account for recordings released in other countries.

I should also add, when I mention the first 4 releases, I am only speaking of the sets. Each of these stories were also released as singles or paired with another story on one or two Cassettes around the same time, which were just parts of the same recordings, narrated by Frank Muller.

Also: When I said I have no knowledge of these being released on CD, I'm speaking of the exclusive Frank Muller recordings of "Skeleton Crew."
"Skeleton Crew" has been released a number of times on CD, in the later years, with the addition of other narrators.

The only foreign release I know of around that time was either in Australia or the UK and was narrated by Tony Saunders, released in 1987. OCLS reports it as being 41 Cassettes, but that's probably just a case of dyslexia.

A few years later, around 1990 to 1995, "Skeleton Crew" was exclusively narrated by Jim Syger (Also spelled
Jim Zeiger). Most of the releases found, narrated by "Jim," were from the stories he narrated from magazines; however, there is a full set of him reading the entire book, somewhere. These too, were only released on cassette. Listening to Jim Syger (Zeiger) narrate "Skeleton Crew" sure makes the early Frank Muller, sound a bit more like the Frank Muller we love.

Has anyone see the homemade clip of Paranoid: A Chant on Youtube by "1stApotheosis?"
-
He's the one with the hooded robe, like death. I thought it was pretty good for an armature. I often play this and "N" (The marketed version) many times over. I think "N" is my favorite story, well, for now, it is

Moving back to Paranoid: The full name of his video is:
Paranoid: A Chant—From Stephen King's "Skeleton Crew"

I often download these versions, because that don't stay up on Youtube forever.

They probably don't last long because he doesn't have permission to do it.

I'm not sure the poems are not in public domain, as with many of his works, and if you're no collecting money from them, they may be perfectly legal. I have clips of movies that Youtube has told me I can only post if I'm not using a profit channel.

You may be right but I think he'd have a good shot at having it taken down if he pushed the issue.

Don't feel bad. All of them are not illegal, as people think. We have been sideswiped with legal gestures in our society. Like when you see the phrase "Don't make illegal copies of this disk." It makes everyone think making copies is illegal. That's not true! You can make all the copies you want, (Just one copy is a wives' tale) as long as you own the original and the copies are only for your own use. Making copies to sell would be illegal. Hence: Don't make ILLEGAL copies!
-
Speaking of which, many of Stephen King books are online to read for free, such as Black House, Blockade Billy, Cell, Christine, Colorado Kid, Cujo, Cycle of the Warewolf, Dark Half, Dead Zone and on and on. Even Skeleton Crew is free to read online, the entire collection of short stories. I'd have to make a list to tell you all of them.

It's also illegal for them to post complete works even if they're not charging.. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to enforce take-down notices as we do whenever we are alerted to them being on-line.

Not if King has released it to the public domain, which he has done with many stories. You're right if he still holds the copyright protection. King has released a lot of his work, early from copyright, for public use, but not for profit.
