If anyone has a way to contact Siggy and blunthead and others you may think of trying to contact them. I'm sure they'd want to know about this tragic event.

Just finding out about this now. So shocking, I just had a long conversation with him last month in person at the end of King Kon. A young man. I can't imagine the devastation his family feels.
From what I have read and the latest report, I think I may have an idea of what happened here.
It says that Nate passed the trooper going 73 in a 40 (Nate!!!!! Bad boy!!
), at which time the trooper turned and flipped his lights. I think Nate probably saw the lights flash and looked in his rear view at just the wrong moment. He rode a Honda Shadow and while great road bikes, they aren't hairpin turn machines. If the timing was just so that he took his eye off the road and brought it back a split second too late, then this could easily happen at that speed.
Tiny little decisions and split second things. You just never know.

If you skip to 3:45 of this video, you can see Nate walking just ahead of us in the tour of the Stanley. Now I'm wishing I'd gotten more video of him. When we spoke, he was excited about the idea of us all meeting up again in Bangor in 2018.
Seems like a fitting tribute song to Nate, who loved to ride his motorcycle more than just about anything. Powerful lyrics to this sad event.

I'm not even saying he was avoiding anything, just saw the lights and looked out of reflex. Probably didn't even have time to process it....Tracy and I were thinking along much the same lines....afraid of being busted, took a quick look back to see if they were coming and............................
Sigh... Bringing back the tragedy of my uncle being killed very young (19) in a similar type car crash. It's still raw like a new burn.
As we go through the next days of grief, I think this is something our gentle and quiet Nate might say to us:

So very sad. I never met Mr. Watkins (in fact, I've never had any meetings with the members of this fine tet), but I have fond memories of what few exchanges we had on the board.
I never knew he was just a few years older than me until now, though. Wow. Very sad.

Just rec'd a similar message from Siggy.
Nate didn't have any kids of his own, but did have young children in his life (including two young brothers that he lived with)... he is terribly missed by them.
His family, girlfriend and friends do very much appreciate the thoughts of his MB friends and will be happy to receive correspondence once things settle down a little bit. I have an address that I can give out via PM and his dad is going to pass on the memorial celebration information when he has it.
