The original 1st printing of the Grant edition does have a rather distinctive aroma to it. It's the only Grant Dark Tower book that has this smell. I wouldn't call mine as having a musty smell though. It's a different smell which I attribute to the paper used. The pages are an off-white, almost a cream color also. I happen to like the smell of mine. As soon as I smell it I'm taken back all those years to when I opened it for the first time.
No, I have a first and an S/L and neither of them smell like this. I have some of my uncle's wood carvings that were stored in an old outdoor storage unit for a long time and they smell just like the book I received. I'm going to see about getting a replacement.

Then definitely you need to contact Grant Books and make them exchange or refund the book. This (sending out a book like this) is not what Donald M. Grant (the original owner/publisher) would have ever have done, ever.

I got nine more books from Value Village - assorted paperbacks of various titles - I don't have them in front of me at the moment - still in the back of my car (having a very lazy long weekend) - they are all Stephen King

I also got a Joe Hill book - my first! (I had read NOS4A2 but it was just from the library)

20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill, First Edition - AbeBooks

Instead of 30 though, I only paid 4.99 :love_heart:

Hardcover, first edition, but not signed

If you are reading Joe Hill, my favorite is still HORNS, Followed by THE CAPE in 20th Century Ghosts and then the fireman. Lost interest in NOS4A2 I was looking for more scary than comical. I will pick it up again after finishing the Dark Tower saga.

It is funny - so far I have only read NOS4A2 and I loved it!

I saw the movie Horns but haven't read the book yet. I bought 20th Century Ghosts as it was a beautiful book in such pristine condition - I just hope the story (stories?) inside can captivate me as much as his Dad's books do =D:monkey:
