Each year, I re-read this series...mostly because it seems to define me. It pretty well sums up what I feel is important in life, somehow. It's morality nods to my own.
I read this last book with a heavy heart no matter how many times I read it. The sorrow is not polished to a bluntness by familiarity. There is no written work that can move me so very much. OUCH, it hurts so hard. What an idiot I am for putting myself through this again. lol
What Stephen has created goes beyond good. It is almost supernatural ....a miracle of storytelling. Nothing comes even close to this. I am amazed that another human being can touch me this much. What a gift he has!!!!!

I think that even after 100 re-reads that it would still be an emotional rollercoaster. Those characters become real to us and when one passes from the story it likes losing a loved one for real. I've re-read the series probably 5 times now (and was in the middle of the next cycle but stopped after book 4) and it hits me gut each time I get to 'those' parts.

Oh yeah, me too. I re-read the whole series at least every couple three years or so. Sometimes I just read certain volumes, like Wastelands--I've probably read that one the most--or the Susan section of Wizard and Glass. And there's something so down home and satisfying about Wolves of the Calla, too. Those three are me favorites, the three 'W's (Wastelands, Wizard, and Wolves). But even when I try to just read certain parts of DT, I usually wind up reading the whole thing.
