I liked the movie, loved the book.
Sadly, I once saw a situation similar to this play out in real life.
A tight knit group of friends torn apart never to repair the damage... because isolated actions wrongly blamed on this one, then that one, dominoed thru the group until not one person was left untouched.

No, I wasn't involved, except in the end, trying to tell folks to let things ride... sigh.
Of course they didn't.

I wanted to say , its a pleasure to meet you. I read your greeting thread from a tablet but wasn't able to post in that moment but intended to, and then later, I couldn't find the thread, so I do it here, and welcome you warmly. :smile2:

Needful Things was one of the books I had to read more than once to fully enjoy. I found the movie on YouTube last year and enjoyed it for what it was. A lot of things were left out (of course), but Von Sydow as Gaunt made up for it. He really was marvelous.

I see a post related to a hot button issue for me and I'll start to post a reply. I may even type a long, tactful reply. I most often never hit the post button... it's not worth the stress. Politics and religion and a couple more topics have cost me real life friendships....

And of course there was that much-bigger-than-in-the-movie dust-up between the Catholics and the Baptists that makes Needful Things a must-read, though the movie is still good, in my opinion, one of the better adaptations ...
