Not big enough, in my opinion. He's supposed to be slightly overweight. But tough. Also, Thornton's face doesn't show the character of Bill that I envisaged.I pictured Billy Bob Thornton.

I know Billy Bob doesn't have the same physique, but I think he would do well in the role. Not big enough, in my opinion. He's supposed to be slightly overweight. But tough. Also, Thornton's face doesn't show the character of Bill that I envisaged.
Brady I'm not sure. Someone with college boy looks.
I think Brady had that 'apple-pie' American look. Brown hair maybe, rosy cheeks. You could take him home to meet your parents and they'd think he was nice.College look boy you say? *calls my college buddy who is an IT major* dude, it's your time to shine lmao

I agree. You don't want an actor with baggage and you say 'Oh, him, how can he be Brady when I've seen him play that part or the other in another film', so you need someone young, but something malevolent in their looks.I have this bizzare idea but when i'm reading Mr. Mercedes, i picture Brady look like my IT major Buddy (who is a 19-year old teenager) because he's hella much cuter than to the ugly campus crush in my college, just take off his eyeglasses and that's it.
Casting Brady here might find a little difficult because you need to find a person that has a cold-blooded personality painted on its overall appearance (so i would like to see Brady's actor as an undiscovered one or one of those actors in the dramatization of documentaries in Natgeo, discovery or History)

Yes. Absolutely agree.Who would play Bill? I see someone in the Brian Dennehy mould circa 1990's. Brady I'm not sure. Someone with college boy looks.
He looks OK, but maybe a bit too nice. Bill has been a cop for all his life so he's going to be a bit surly. But Michael Chicklis is an actor so I assume he can do surly. Also Bill had a full head of hair. I like actors who fit the mould of the character in the book. If I feel like I'm looking at a movie and I'm thinking, 'this actor/actress couldn't do this in real life' then I switch off.Yes. Absolutely agree.
What about Michael Chicklis?

Also his current stint on Gotham.Chiklis can definitely do surly -- see The Shield.
It's amazing what they can do with hairpieces. I bet most of the characters you remember well from movies you love did not sport their real hair. That's the magic of the movies! He looks OK, but maybe a bit too nice. Bill has been a cop for all his life so he's going to be a bit surly.
