Sounds like its kinda like a Once Upon a Time version of Stephen King verse.

Like they'll reimagine a lot of his concepts and characters and set it all and some kinda version of Castle Rock. Sort of an alternate universe where a lot of it is happening in one place? Obviously The Shining and IT and Salem's Lot weren't set in Castle Rock.

Just a guess on my part based on the article, but 2018 may be more realistic for air time.
Yes I would agree. The demand of instant demand butting against the reality of the amount of work it takes to produce 10 hours or what have you of cinema quality media. So much work. Now that my son is doing this in school, I see how much more it is than I already thought.

Well hopefully I'll still be topside when it does drop. :)

With 11.22.63, Hulu didn't release the whole series at once, but doled episodes out on a weekly basis, so that option is available to them here, too.
Sure but weren't they all at least "in the can" when they premiered the first episode? I am just saying that a show like this, which is bound to have at least a decent amount of special effects, can't be filmed week to week I don't think...

True, but with 10 episodes, they could have eight episodes in the can when they start releasing them and still have two months to handle the last two. Not saying that's what they'll do, but it's a possibility.

I see everyone is excited over the projected; I concur, this is really a great announcement.

My hope: we see episodes that are like little short-film sequels to King's works. Maybe they will be written by known authors -- Chizmar might write one, as an example.

But I would love to see an episode featuring Annie Wilkes' sister, or It coming to Castle Rock (maybe one of those eggs survived, and is being transported over to Castle Rock College for study). Stuff like that.

I can't quite place the first two audiofragments. The first is from Salem's Lot, 'keeping the kids outside', which part is that? The bit from Needful Things I can't quite recall either, there is an Alice Tanner in the book, a school secretary, but can't remember her that well - must have been a minor character. Anyone remember better?

But what we get is probably something that mashes everything up. So now everything we know from the books will have ties to Castle Rock, whether it did originally or not. Seems a bit needless, unless they found a really interesting way to do it. Abrams' name guarantees it will have quality, of course. Is King developing this together with him, or is it totally Abrams' thing?

Excerpted from the official press release:

SANTA MONICA and BURBANK, Calif. (February 21, 2017) — Hulu is taking viewers into the chilling world of acclaimed, best-selling author Stephen King in the new Hulu Original drama series Castle Rock, from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, Warner Bros. Television and executive producers/writers Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason. Hulu has ordered a 10 episode first season of the on-going series, with production set to begin this year. A teaser trailer for Castle Rock has been viewed more than one million times since it was released on Friday, Feb. 17, and can be viewed at .

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories such as Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.

Castle Rock reunites Hulu, King, Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television, which previously collaborated on event series 11.22.63, based on King’s novel. The series will stream exclusively in the U.S. on Hulu and Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution will distribute globally.

Castle Rock is based on characters and situations created by Stephen King. Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason developed the project for television and serve as executive producers along with J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson and Liz Glotzer. The series is from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

I am just a. Bit pissed off about one aspect about this. And ms mod, I hope perhaps you can mention something to king or his people. Ok we in Canada do not get Hulu, it's a shame that like we Canadians can not watch this with out illiegally downloading it. This makes me kind of sad. I hope that perhaps something can be arranged so we can get it in Canada, even if it's on like ctv or global tv on-line watching platform. But this still looks amazing. I whant to see Annie and delouris have tea or coffe together
