My first was The Shining in 1977 when I was 30 years old.

(yeah, I was born the same year SK was born :))
I was born January 18th, 1977. The Shining was published ten days later. I kind of wish I'd been born earlier. So, what was your first impression of Stephen King? Obviously you became a fan but I imagine at thirty years old you were smitten. Did you read horror previously?

I was previously a fan of horror but the stories were becoming hum drum y'know? Then I read The Shining and it was the scariest book I'd ever read. I became an instant SK fan :)

Pet Semetary, age 12. Got the paperback at a garage sale. I recognized the cat on the front from when my aunt borrowed the book from the library a year or so earlier. She told me it was too scary for me. I was with a different aunt when I got the paperback. ;-D
....I KNOW that Aunt!......
