Lolly come-see-me plant?

I'm an amateur botanist, horticulturist and general plant geek and I saw reference to this plant towards the end of the book (about 100 pages to go...) I assumed its a real plant but google says otherwise, unless 'Salem's Lot is set in Australia! Any of you guys in America confirm this plant?
We have loblolly pine trees but I have never heard of that plant. It must be a New England colloquialism.
