hi stephen, i am a novelist from germany. i am reading "on writing" third time now (in german this time, the less sexy german title is "das leben und das schreiben" (life and reading). every time i read that book i underline other parts of it. i love it, and i love it even more after i attended your reading in hamburg - i was very impressed by your mellowness answering the questions of ingo zamperoni, the interviewer, but even more by the way you walked the stage up and down, reading to us from your new novel, but not from paper sheets, not from a printed book, but from an ebook in a red covered ipad. years bevore i had learned that mark twain in the beginning of every reading always kept silent for minutes, staring at the audience, which really is hard to do. i know that because I tried to imitate it - but to showed the white feather after 30 seconds. maybe the red ipad walking reading is better for me to imitate!
i published 5 novels in germany, one was a bestseller, the second was made a tv movie of (best of it was a rammstein song in the soundtrack). the three next flopped althoguh my languade is improving, i swear! now i feel on a point in my life, where i just want to skip and cut and become shorter and shorter and remain silent in the very end, maybe it's a writer's block, maybe all is said, maybe twitter influsenced me to "go haiku" (i just closed my twitter account all of a sudden, surprisingly für even me. maybe i am done. maybe i do not believe in fiction anymore - anyway, "on writing" is one of the most helpful books about writing i ever read in my life - and i have read a lot. the rereading might help me to re-invent my writing. or should i stop it? seeking advice!

Wilkommen zum Board.
My very favorite novel is Das Parfum by Patrick Süßkind.
Congratulations on being published multiple times!
Take SK's advice in the book: read, read, read, and read some more.
Your muse will return and you'll know what to do with the inspiration.
Hoffentlich findest du das Board gemütlich genug, daß du bleiben willst.
(Hopefully you find the Board welcoming enough to stay.)

Keep working at it, just because your last three books flopped doesn't mean the next three will. Adversity cane either make you stronger or beat you into submission, but it's up to you which way it goes. Either way, if you enjoy doing it, you should continue.

Welcome to the board by the way
