Love SK; have been with him from the get go. I have just about all published novels and short story collections in either first edition hardcover or paperback since I bought them upon publication. That said, I would never seek out limited editions, signed copies, etc. and buy them. Just not interested. I'll take the 10k and spend it on travel, thank you. =D

I would recommend spending that on signed limiteds. That way, you are guaranteed on getting authentic King signatures. Be sure you do your research on them, though. Some s/l editions hold their value (and often go up) while others just aren't worth as much as when they were issued. One of your first buys, should you decide to go this route, should be the s/l Stand. That one seems to keep going up and up, even though there were a relatively plentiful 1250 copies printed.

I'm assuming big Chief up there means one of those 'have to spend it on King' scenarios. Say, a ten-grand gift card for the imaginary 'Ultimate King Bookstore'. In which case we may justify blowing all that bread on books (I find this concept entirely reasonable, but anyhoo).

Gonna go with signed 1st editions of The Gunslinger, Carrie, Salems Lot. That's probably the load right there. Maybe they have a limited edition of Different Seasons inscribed to Ray Bradbury or something. I'm not into valuable editions of anything, I'm good with just having the words in whatever form, but dang--it'd be cool to have the above-mentioned books, sure. And maybe have fifty bucks left to eat burgers at the in-store Al's Diner. I mean, while we're dreaming.

Exactly. Wasn't meant to be a real world thing. Ofcourse we do much good with money. Just meant as something fun. Was interested in seeing what books they would buy. What books if any had repeats in readers choices. I definitely would have 1st 3dition carrie 8n there. Also 11/22/63 limited and signed w/ the traycase

I haven't got a clue what special books are worth what, after I bought the cemetery dance special IT with the pictures it would just be randomly selecting books that looked the best. Even after buying IT, I still wouldn't throw away my £2.60 paper back copy which is battered and slightly dampened and has tape holding the back few pages in. It was my 1st.

I'd love to have 1st editions of ALL of The Dark Tower books signed by the maestro himself......:)

:smile2: Me too, this is what I would buy first; then I would look for a first edition signed copy of The Stand, It, and Salem's Lot.

Oh wow, can't believe I forgot this one. Definitely would have 1st edition of the gunslinger. Close to mint as possible. I think they go around 500 but for a mint copy probably have to pop to 800 to 900.
