OK, here we go then:
1. Oculus... meh, fell asleep.
2. Insidious... Decent
3. Insidious 2... Decent
4. Planet Terror (Grindhouse)
5. Deathproof (Grindhouse)
6. Cabin in the Woods... I LOOOOOOOVE this movie. Just awesome! A horror fan's dream flick!
7. Creepshow... A classic
8. Creepshow 2... Also a classic
9. Hostel... A gore and sex fest... yay!
10. Saw IV... Hadn't seen it yet. OK, but the sequels all lost the impact of the first one, IMO
11. The Brood... An old classic. What a creepy movie.
12. Rosemary's Baby (The new mini series) It was OK. Not as shocking in today's world
13. The Shining (miniseries). Hadn't seen it before, but liked how close it followed the book. Had to be tame for network TV.
14. 'Salem's Lot (old miniseries). Watched it with the kids as they hadn't seen it yet. They thought it was creepy, but cheesy.
15. The Exorcist. The priest's dream sequences are still some of the most chilling cinema I've ever seen.
16. The Conjouring. This is a modern film that went beyond the weird camera tricks and "cool" factor and just tried to scare you again. I liked this one.
17. Pet Semetary. Watch this one around Halloween every year. "Sometimes... dead is bettah..."
18. The Shining (Kubrick). I know it's not the book, but this is a classic horror flick. I do love this movie.

That's it for now...

19. The Innocents -- 1961 -- A great old standby for me. I can't NOT watch this. Perfect.

18. Big Driver -- 2014 -- Maria Bello. She did A brilliant job. She carried this story through to the end. Nicely done.
17. Let The Right One In -- 2008 -- I thought this was a very atmospheric and artistic vampire movie. And from the viewpoint of children and a focus on their friendship was brilliant.
16 -- The Revenge of Frankenstein -- 1958 -- Peter Cushing. Okay. Another one of those Frankenstein movies.
15. From a Whisper to a Scream (The Offspring) -- 1987 -- An anthology with Vincent Price and a host of other familiar character actor faces. Not bad.
14. The Strange and Deadly Occurence -- 1974 -- Robert Stack and Vera Miles. Yeah, a little bit creepy but nothing to get too excited about.
13. Nightmare In Wax -- 1969 --A familiar face in Cameron Mitchell. Reminiscent somewhat of House of Wax starring Vincent Price, this is an okay story. Changed just enough to make it different, but totally 60s cheese.
12. The Invitation --2003 -- Okay, this one is on Netflix. I understood the premise of the film. But, I'm thinking I dozed off or something. I just didn't think their secrets were that well revealed, connected and WTH? Someone watch this one and then come tell me exactly what was going on. A couple I could figure out, but a couple -- I'm still scratching my head.
11. Asylum -- 1972 -- Another in the anthology grouping. Pretty good.
10. House on Haunted Hill -- 1959 -- Vincent Price -- Old time standby movie. When that old lady comes gliding in with claws at the ready to scare that girl, man I laugh!
9. House of Evil -- 1978 -- Joanna Pettet and Richard Crenna star in this one. Not that great.
8. Creature from Black Lake -- 1976 --I have been looking for this movie for years! I couldn't remember the name nor could I remember much of the plot, but I kept googling different things -- well, I searched in youtube with different wordings and it would pull up movies and I would scan the list looking for this. And lo and behold, there it was, a still shot I recognized! I saw this when it first came out in the theaters with a friend and we were so scared! And of course, loved the pretty dark haired boy who plays one of the main characters. Rewatching it, oh man, not so great. Not horrible, but very b flicky. In checking out the two lead characters, both of them have died young. so sad. Jack Elam is in this -- such a great character actor. One of the best things about this movie is the one character's name -- Pawhoo. :smile2:
7. Dr. Terror's House of Horrors -- 1965 --This is another British anthology I like. Cushing, Donald Sutherland and familiar faces throughout.
6. Monster Club-- 1981-- not that great, but fun.
5. Vault of Horror -- 1973 -- One of my favorite of the old British groupings.
4. The House that Dripped Blood -- 1971 -- Staying true to the British anthologies. Enjoyed.
3. Torture Garden -- 1967 -- thanks for the heads up on this one skimom2 . I absolutely love old British anthology movies. I thought I'dd seen them all. Not the best in genre, but entertaining. Will be watching the house that dripped blood for tomorrow--another one I haven't seen!
2. John Dies In The End -- 2012 -- Very weird little movie.
1. The Legend of Hell House -- 1973 -- with Roddy McDowall. I don't think I need to say anything else.

"You've been here before, but things are about to change...There's a storm on the way." SK

I loved it to. It's one of those that people seem to either love or hate. Count me on the thumbs up side.
It's just a cool new take on the genre. Horror is hard to come up with something new, and they did it with Cabin in the Woods.

Plus that one scene, possibly more pure gore and volume of blood ever on film...

I've been keeping up with my movie viewing (just barely) but I haven't had time to write up the reviews. I'll keep 'em quick today...

17. Cockneys Vs. Zombies (FTV)
A construction crew in London's rough-and-tumble East End release a zombie apocalypse from an ancient tomb, while two well-meaning but bumbling brothers attempt to rob a bank to save their grandfather's old folks home from the wrecking ball. Aside from occasional difficulties understanding what the cockneys were saying, this movie was a gore-riffic blast. My personal favorite scene was the old man in the walker being chased by a slowly staggering zombie. Rare movie that actually delivers on the promise of fun in the title.

4 out of 5 stars.

18. First Man Into Space (FTV)
The first man to fly into space is feared dead, but in fact has returned and has mutated into a lumpy, bloodthirsty monster. A little better than the usual by-the-numbers late 1950's story, with plenty of unintended laughs. Most hilarious part is the non-reaction of the military commander to the news of his brother's supposed death in space.

3 out of 5 stars.

19. Village of the Damned (1960)
The classic creepy smart kids film, where several mothers in a small English town simultaneously give birth to a race of super-smart kids with psychokinetic powers. Most viewers will remember the eerie glowing eye effects that are used any time the children use their mental powers, an effect that's still quite effective to this day. Journeyman actor George Sanders gives another great performance as the scientist that no one will listen to until it's too late. This film spawned decent sequels and remakes, but none have managed to live up to the original.

4 out of 5 stars.

Caught the middle of Army of Darkness on IFC last night before the new episode of The Walking Dead.

"Good. Bad. I'm the guy with gun.....BOOM!"

Classic Bruce Campbell right there ;;D

Also viddyed the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXV last night. Excellent parody of A Clockwork Orange with Moe as Alex and Homer as Dim. It was most horrorshow. Timely as I just finished my paper on A Clockwork Orange for the Banned Books and Dangerous Ideas class I'm taking. 'Ole SwiftDog earned himself an "A" as in Alex, on that assignment, oh my Brothers \w/

FF, The lead kid in this one is also in The Innocents. He was great in both. Very creepy. If I remember correctly, it seems the kid left acting. He was very good and had a lot of potential.

9. The Reaping with Hilary Swank - did not like this one much.
10. The Mist - it was on TV last night - ewww yuk - great special effects - very weird ending.
11. Big Driver - I would definitely classify this as horror hossenpepper - but maybe that is because I am a woman. (I liked Olympia Dukasis' role as well in this one).

And oh yeah...
19. A Good Marriage. I am not sure if this counts towards horror. Seems like more thriller/suspense than horror...
But if horror, then...
20. Rear Window. The story is better, but the flick was good too.
Ooops - I mistook your comment - thought you had been talking about Big Driver, not a Good Marriage - sorry about that! Actually I have not seen A Good Marriage yet.

21. Devil’s Pass (2013)

This movie blends fiction with a real life event as filmmakers go to Russia to retrace the path of the party of 9 that died mysteriously at Dyatlov Pass in 1959. The filmmakers get more than they bargained for. The first part of the film is routine but the second half of the film is very good but a little confusing and I want to watch it again. 7/10

Lina saw this one too and I copied her take on it below. We have a different opinion about the first and second half of the movie. ;-D

14. The Dyatlov Pass Incident. I am really glad they attracted attention to the tragedy. That is one of the most mysterious tragedies that ever happened in Russia. A group of tourists went for a hike in the Ural mountains, after a few days they all were found dead. Even now no one knows the truth about what happened to them, there are thousands of theories and neither one is confirmed. More probably, we will never know the truth as it was marked top secret and the government will never give documents that might have answers to the audience. Still, everyone who hears about this tragedy gets hooked by it, everyone here does their own research, hoping to find an answer, but they never do.

As for the movie, it's not absolutely awful, but the ending is strange and even disgusting, that's just too much! But the first half of the movie is great!
