23. Event Horizon
Ghost ship story set in space, the Event Horizon spaceship comes back from interstellar travel with all hands on ship dead...or are they? Superbly done sci-fi horror starring Same Neil and Lawrence Fishburne, this one belongs right up there with classics such as Alien. And it's not afraid to be scary as hell.

4.5 out of 5 stars.

24. Spooks Run Wild (1941) The Eastside Kids meet Bela Lugosi in a haunted house. This movie is billed as a horror comedy but is really just a comedy with some horror props. Lots of wisecracks, physical comedy, and general mayhem. :smile2: The Eastside Kids grew up to become the Bowery Boys, who went on to make forty-eight more films. Who knew! (Who cares? :biggrin2:)

OMG!! I am watching my #13 movie right now!!!

13 - The Lost Boys (1987) - Oh, how I wanted to be Jami Gertz and fought over by Keifer and Jason! :swoon:

This is part of the Halloween marathon at the Coolidge Corner Theater in Boston this weekend. 12 hours of horror films on the big screen. The main features this year are The Lost Boys and Frakenstein. I'd go but 12 hrs, starting at midnight, is just a bit much when I have to work on Monday :(

Anyway, I watched the Horror of Dracula with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee last night. Always liked the Hammer films.

Last night was one for the classics: 28) Frankenstein-the James Whale original. This is a family favorite. Every one of us finds it more sad than scary (Lil Man had tears in his eyes by the end, and I'm never far behind). Is The Monster a monster? No, he's a scared, sad, manchild (my daughter compares him to Lenny in Of Mice and Men). Such a great movie!

25. Vincent (1982) A six minute twenty-five second gem written, designed, and directed by Tim Burton. Yes, you read that right-- it's really that short. Vincent Price narrates this black and white stop-motion animation movie. If you get a chance, watch it… it's very clever!

I've seen this! It's included as a bonus (along with Frankenweenie) on The Nightmare Before Christmas VHS (yes, I said VHS!)! :)
