31. Halloween -- 1978 --Donald Pleasance, Jamie Lee Curtis -- This thing scared the bejabbers out of me when it first came out. Not so much now.

30. Carnival of Souls -- 1962 -- Strange, sort of reminded me of some weird s**t that Andy Warhol would do. Okay.
29. The Tingler -- 1959 -- Vincent Price -- Love The Tingler!
28. Rosemary's Baby -- 1968 -- Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes. Great movie. A classic.
27. Lisa and the Devil -- 1973-- Telly Savalas, Elke Sommers. Sucked. Note to self: Any movie with Elke Sommers in it sucks.
26. Return of Count Yorga -- 1971-- Mariette Hartley, Craig T. Nelson and many other character actor faces I recognized, this thing was pitiful. I can see now why I always go to the same movies time and time again.
25. World War Z -- 2013-- Brad Pitt and a woman who was in no way a threat to Angelina Jolie. I liked this little Zombie show. Zombies aren't my thing, but I actually did enjoy this one.
24. Baron Blood -- Elke Sommer, Joseph Cotten -- Horrible horrible movie. Terrible story, terrible acting. As God is my witness, I will never watch this movie again. Cue Gone With the Wind music.
23. Twice Told Tales -- 1963 -- Vincent Price, Sebastian Cabot -- fun anthology.
22. The Wicker Man -- 1973 -- Good lord. I'e never seen this one. Who in the f**k realized it was a damn horror musical, with a fair amount of nudity and totally sexual? Not me. Weird, but interesting.
21. Village of the Damned -- 1960 -- I really love these old black and whites. And that main kid is so friggin' creepy. Love his little accent.
20. The Farm House -- 2008 -- Steven Weber is in this. Pretty disturbing premise. Dying baby involved. Unsettling.
19. The Innocents -- 1961 -- A great old standby for me. I can't NOT watch this. Perfect.
18. Big Driver -- 2014 -- Maria Bello. She did A brilliant job. She carried this story through to the end. Nicely done.
17. Let The Right One In -- 2008 -- I thought this was a very atmospheric and artistic vampire movie. And from the viewpoint of children and a focus on their friendship was brilliant.
16 -- The Revenge of Frankenstein -- 1958 -- Peter Cushing. Okay. Another one of those Frankenstein movies.
15. From a Whisper to a Scream (The Offspring) -- 1987 -- An anthology with Vincent Price and a host of other familiar character actor faces. Not bad.
14. The Strange and Deadly Occurence -- 1974 -- Robert Stack and Vera Miles. Yeah, a little bit creepy but nothing to get too excited about.
13. Nightmare In Wax -- 1969 --A familiar face in Cameron Mitchell. Reminiscent somewhat of House of Wax starring Vincent Price, this is an okay story. Changed just enough to make it different, but totally 60s cheese.
12. The Invitation --2003 -- Okay, this one is on Netflix. I understood the premise of the film. But, I'm thinking I dozed off or something. I just didn't think their secrets were that well revealed, connected and WTH? Someone watch this one and then come tell me exactly what was going on. A couple I could figure out, but a couple -- I'm still scratching my head.
11. Asylum -- 1972 -- Another in the anthology grouping. Pretty good.
10. House on Haunted Hill -- 1959 -- Vincent Price -- Old time standby movie. When that old lady comes gliding in with claws at the ready to scare that girl, man I laugh!
9. House of Evil -- 1978 -- Joanna Pettet and Richard Crenna star in this one. Not that great.
8. Creature from Black Lake -- 1976 --I have been looking for this movie for years! I couldn't remember the name nor could I remember much of the plot, but I kept googling different things -- well, I searched in youtube with different wordings and it would pull up movies and I would scan the list looking for this. And lo and behold, there it was, a still shot I recognized! I saw this when it first came out in the theaters with a friend and we were so scared! And of course, loved the pretty dark haired boy who plays one of the main characters. Rewatching it, oh man, not so great. Not horrible, but very b flicky. In checking out the two lead characters, both of them have died young. so sad. Jack Elam is in this -- such a great character actor. One of the best things about this movie is the one character's name -- Pawhoo. :smile2:
7. Dr. Terror's House of Horrors -- 1965 --This is another British anthology I like. Cushing, Donald Sutherland and familiar faces throughout.
6. Monster Club-- 1981-- not that great, but fun.
5. Vault of Horror -- 1973 -- One of my favorite of the old British groupings.
4. The House that Dripped Blood -- 1971 -- Staying true to the British anthologies. Enjoyed.
3. Torture Garden -- 1967 -- thanks for the heads up on this one skimom2 . I absolutely love old British anthology movies. I thought I'dd seen them all. Not the best in genre, but entertaining. Will be watching the house that dripped blood for tomorrow--another one I haven't seen!
2. John Dies In The End -- 2012 -- Very weird little movie.
1. The Legend of Hell House -- 1973 -- with Roddy McDowall. I don't think I need to say anything else.

1. Black Sunday (1960) (above average Hammer-type horror)
2. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
3. Hellraiser
4. Silence of the Lambs
5. John Dies at the End (interesting, strange scifi)
6. Not of This Earth (cheesier than hell. Watching it in its entirety was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.)
7. Mama (very spooky, pretty scary, ghost story)
8. The Dead Zone
9. Beneath the Darkness
10. Red Dragon
11. Cockneys vs Zombies (Funny)
12. Storage 24 (Not bad for graphic, scifi horror.)
13. Deep Rising (Decent gruesome sea monster retread)
14. Office Killer (Fun, serial killer, B-movie with a couple young stars who’ve gone on to become older, but bigger)
15. Identity
16. The Mothman Prophecies
17. Night of the Creeps (Teen-slasher-just-so-I-can-have-17)
18. The Devil’s Advocate (A favorite of mine, and my favorite Pacino performance)
19. The Blob (1988)
20. Dead of Night (1945) (My all-time favorite horror movie)
21. The Uninvited (1944) (Excellent ghost story with Ray Milland)
22. The Omen (2206)
23. Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight (B+ movie, typical story made interesting by nice sets and good acting)
24. The New Daughter
25. Deadline (Technically, a thriller with supernatural elements)
26. Children of the Corn (good movie, though it’s been so long since I read the story that I dunno how faithful to it the movie is)
27. Shivers (Pure cheese)
28. Big Driver (No comment yet due to too many Skeemers having not seen it)
29. Evil Dead (This remake of the 1981 original is gratuitous but well-done. It's truly scary horror, and I was impressed by some of the visual effects)
30. Pet Sematary (Fair transcription of the great sK story)
31. Extreme Measures (Technically a suspense thriller, but it’s the villainous are sufficiently heinous to qualify as horror villains)
32. Tales from the Crypt Presents: Bordello of Blood (Dennis Miller is fun. Gratuitous B-movie)
33. The Relic (Good, scary, alien-type scifi horror with a good cast)
34. Body Snatchers (The third remake, superior to the second)
35. Cabinet of Caligari (1962) (Not to be confused with the 1920 classic The Cabinet of Dr Caligari [“Das Cabinet Des Dr. Caligari”]. Predictable story reduced to using an unrelated title to fool people into buying tickets. Still, fairly well-made)
36. Idle Hands (Funny take on the possessed appendage horror genre. Campy and fun)
37. Godzilla Raids Again (I wonder how many Godzilla movies in total came out of Japan, not to mention why Japan keeps on detonating nuclear bombs off its coasts. Maybe I was just in the mood, but this one was interesting)
38. The Witches of Eastwick (My first viewing. I’m getting caught up on my Jack. Good revenge movie)
39. The Pit and the Pendulum (Grand old Roger Corman production with Vincent Price)
40. The Haunted Palace (Another Corman/Price collaboration, this one based on a Lovecraft story)
41. The Fall of the House of Usher (Yet another Corman/Price. I really enjoy these old Poe adaptations)

Well, I didn't make it to 40, but I did have a good time watching this year! Fushingfeef inspired me to make most of my views of the first time variety. Here's my final list:

2014 SKMB HORRORFEST!

1) Legend of Hell House
2)
The House that Dripped Blood (FTV)
3) Torture Garden--1967 Amicus anthology (FTV)
4) Dementia 13-definitely the grandaddy of the modern slasher film (FTV)
5) Smiley-urban legend-type horror film. (FTV)
6) Dracula-the Lugosi original.
7) John Carpenter's Vampires-Wow. So bad. (FTV)
8) Fright Night-1985 original. Can't say enough good about this one
9) Nightmare on Elm Street--the original
10) Vault of Horror-1972 British horror anthology. Every bit as good as Dana Jean noted! (FTV)
11) Tales From the Crypt-1971 British horror anthology. (FTV)
12) Gallery of Horror-1967 anthology. Bad, bad, bad…but hilariously so (FTV)
13) You're Next-- a standard home invasion movie (FTV)
14) Dead Within--This was a nifty little contagion movie! (FTV)
15) Return of Dracula (1958)-It's really atmospheric and creepy--a neat little vampire story.
16) Night of the Living Dead (the original)
17) Nosferatu-original. Max Schreck was very creepy, and definitely the best part of this movie.
18) Freaks-I think it qualifies because it freaked people out so very much when it was originally released
19) Shadow of the Vampire- I didn't love it, but the leads were very good. (FTV)
20) Dead of Night (1945)-I quite enjoyed it (FTV)
21) Mark of the Vampire-Tod Browning's 1935 remake of his London After Midnight. Pretty good movie! (FTV)
22) Masters of Horror-episodes 1-4. Horror anthology series that ROCKS! (FTV)
23) The Wasp Woman-I liked it when I was a kid; still fun
24) Carrie (2013) Eh. It was okay-watchable, once. (FTV)
25) The Exorcist
26) Masters of Horror-2 eps, including John Carpenter’s Cigarette Burns. Horrifying and unsettling. (FTV)
27) Masters of Horror-2 eps. Homeland: dumb and overly political. Deer Woman (John Landis): creepy and very funny! (FTV)
28) Masters of Horror-2 eps. Fair-Haired Child started well, but sort of petered out at the end. Sick Girl...eh. It was okay. (FTV)
29) Horror Hotel: Autumn Gust was right--this is a nifty little chiller. (FTV)
30) Frankenstein-the James Whale original. This is a family favorite.
31) Rocky Horror Picture Show - Hey, there's blood and everything, so it counts...right?
32) The Innocents-This will definitely go on my regular rotation when I want to creep myself out. (FTV)
33) Horror of Dracula-Decent movie, much less bloody than the later Hammer movies. (FTV)
34) Masters of Horror-2 more. Pick Me Up was pretty good: serial killer trucker vs. serial killer hitchhiker. Haeckel's Story: I was dozy, so I don't remember the end. From a Clive Barker story; what I remember was well scripted and directed. (FTV)
35) House of the Devil (2008)- Not really scary, gory-ish, sort of 80s wink-wink nudge-nudge styling and direction, but *shrug*. Not terrible, but meh. (FTV)
36) Rebecca (1940)-One of my favorite books and movies.
37) Halloween (1978)-No need to say anything
38) Contracted-Interesting take on zombies! Girl has unprotected sex with a necrophiliac whose last shtup someone wearing a biohazard toe tag. Over 3 days, protag gradually turns into a zombie. I really liked it! (FTV)

Just wanted to say I enjoyed reading each and every one of your reviews, guys and ghouls. I have a lot of movies on my viewing list now that I had never heard about. And, even if I'd seen the movie you posted on five times already, it's always nice to get someone else's take on it.

Yes, great fun! My thanks too, to everyone who participated. Lots of great movies, and lots of movies to avoid!

Wow! I was able to watch a lot more than I expected. I am a Horror-Slinger!!
As others have said, I have enjoyed reading everyone’s lists and reviews. I have lots on my to-watch list for next years ‘thon!

20. This is the End (2013) – The apocalypse is at hand. If you watch this one in the right frame of mind, it’s freakin’ hilarious.
19. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers – This came out my senior year and it spooked me. A lot!
18. Halloween (1978) – You just know, when you hear that haunting music, evil is coming.
17. Torture Garden (1967) An anthology strung together as Dr. Diablo (Burgess Meredith!!) shows a group of thrill seekers their fate through the shears of Atropos. There is a man-eating cat, a possessed grand piano and robot movie stars. Oh, and maybe the Devil himself. In 2014, it was more campy that scary but I did enjoy it with my morning coffee!
16. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) – Daughter’s first time to see this one. This is where the movies start to get darker and more grown-up.
15. Thinner (1996) – I had honestly forgotten this one. I loved the book so much, and really wanted to like this movie. But the bad makeup for lawyer Billy (both fat and thinner) plus the fact that they picked Keri Wuhrer to be the kicka$$ gypsy Gina, made it hard to enjoy as much as I wanted to.
14. The Haunting (1963) – I had somehow missed this one until now. It was nicely done. Love the black and white movies!

13. The Lost Boys (1987) – One of my all-time faves! I wanted to be Jami Gertz, and still have a crush on Keifer! :sigh: and the movie was good and scary too!
12. The Others (2001)
11. Dark Water (2005) - Interesting to watch these back-to-back. Similar ideas.
10. Big Driver – I thought they followed the book very well. I have always liked Maria Bello and I LOVE Olympia Dukakis. She was great! Heck, I even enjoyed Tom, the GPS guy! But the movie itself was hard to watch, much as I expected it to be.
9. Tremors – I can’t tell you how much I just love this movie! I saw it twice in theaters when it came out and then I watch everytime I find it on TV. Michael Gross and Reba McEntire are just so freakin’ funny in this movie!
8. Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince
7. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
6. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone - the daughter and I had a small HP marathon… All good and it’s so cute to see the actors when they were just getting started.
5. Cabin Fever (2002) - Five buddies go and encounter a flesh eating virus… it’s not looking good for the town. Bloody but with a couple of funny scenes and jump-inducing scenes.
4. The Nightmare before Christmas – Too much singing, but this is a fun movie for older, or not easily scared kids and adults as well.
3. Chernobyl Diaries - Some young folks decide to take an "extreme adventure tour" of Pripyat, the abandoned company town which sits in the shadow of the Chernolbyl Nuclear Power Plant. What could possibly go wrong?
2. Chucky - yep, the original. Still creepy and corny all mixed together!
1. Tales from the Darkside - I somehow missed this one when it came out in '90. FF did a great review, so I'll just say, I enjoyed it!

Here's the last review for the month, it was an awesome run again this year guys! Thanks for helping me make some great discoveries, sharing your thoughts, and putting up with my long-winded analyses.

31. The Battery (FTV)
Two former pro baseball players cope with the day-to-day isolation and mundaneness of living in the new post-zombie apocalypse America. Really loved this movie, it has a great indie-film feel while remaining funny and occasionally profound. Rather than concentrating on matters of physical survival, this is the rare zombie film that explores the psychological and emotional bereavement of those who are still alive, making new micro-societies that are by necessity short-lived and suspicious of one another. The film is enlivened by the differences between the two characters: the pitcher who is an idealist who isn't ready to let go of the old world, and the catcher who is a survivor-pragmatist but a bit of a boorish caveman type. The first wants to just settle down and be normal again, the second wants to keep moving forward, running away as a way of life. Despite their differences, both are united by their love of a now-extinct sport, and their social need for each other. Those who'd like to see a completely different take on the zombie genre who value characters over repetitious gore will enjoy this one. "Old Joy" meets "The Walking Dead".

4.5 out of 5 stars.

I agree with others, it was fun to see what everyone was watching and I enjoyed everyone's reviews!
You guys have good taste and nice lists!
Thanks to fushingfeef for creating this thread! :)
In all I watched 17 horror movies! (Way too lazy right now to go back and list them, as I forget the earliest movies that I watched ;-D)
