It all had to come down to a final confrontation of some sort with this bunch of creatures, and boyo did it! All was as neatly tied together as a collaboration could be made... and sure, with closure comes a promise of a future story or stories if one wanted to from out of this one... Lily and Ski rocked it!!!

Thank you all for the nice words. This was a great story to work with - not too long so that I was going to panic thinking how to finish it but not too short either. Perfect. A great writing exercise. I'd love to do it again next year.

I was wondering who was going to close the story. Very nice ending, indeed. Not answering all the questions but enough so that it all makes sense.

Special thanks to skimom2 for guiding me through this. I originally sent her another version of the story but she made me see it wasn't what the story needed. We needed something faster, tighter, something that would bring the story closer to the grand finale. She was right, of course, and I am very grateful for her advice. :biglove:

Who ever knows ALL the answers? I like to leave a bit of mystery (as long as everything that NEEDS to be answered gets answered). Bet you'd never guess that The Colorado Kid is one of my favorite stories by Mr. King, right? lol

Chapter 11 (1) and 11 (2) -- both were superlative reading experiences. I loved the introduction of the wendigo, it added more fun to the werewolf story. Did not see that coming; I wasn't sure how Erwin was going to affect the story in the end, but I simply assumed he was a crazy, intimidating human, no matter his size.

Looking back at the tale as a whole, I think all the writers, and the editor, brought to life an entertaining piece of mythology. I would love to know more about the town and its tourism...and its problems, because it has those, for sure. There are obviously more characters within its geographical borders that readers would probably want to know...and each one would have its own story to tell (even the dead ones!). Loved the mix of noir sensibilities, the tense used, the various perspectives, the action, the atmosphere, and in particular, the mystery of the plot.

This narrative made my Halloween, so thanks to everyone involved. Should be in a horror journal like Cemetery Dance. Could even be a comic book.

I was thinking that weird little town had more stories, too. As I was writing, I kept thinking about the initial cabin builder who found the first silver nuggets & I think there's a story there. In fact, I had a thread that tied Anne Marie's connection to Lou together with that guy and Abish... but it just didn't work within the bounds of the story as set by the other writers. Using the wendigo angle was just too tempting (and worked better here, anyway). Our writers are fabulous! :)

Been away for a while, just rolled in for the rest of the story, then here for comments. Outstanding work to the last few writers for their contributions!!! Just awesome to see the turns the story took with each writer. As John 'Hannibal' Smith from the A-Team is prone to say, and I quote... "I love it when a plan comes together!" :bat:

I'm late to the party too :( I havn't been able to read this year's Halloween Story because I've been having problems keeping a Safari connection since the last iOS update. I spent hours taking to Apple - they do NOT want to admit that the last update causes problems :( I'll have to wait for the next iOS update to read it :(

Is that why I'm having issues. Other morning on start up I couldn't get Safari to connect . Also loading sites s l o w !
Could be. Everything is slow, especially if I start up from all the way off. I've taken to just putting the darn thing to sleep at night instead of shutting down, so I can get some work done before the kids get up.
