Die Toadmensch (1923). Expressionist wunderkind Horst Stubech’s surreal journey into the depths of human filth, shown through backwards dream sequence vignettes dreamt by freakish toad/boy mutant Gunter (Klaus Klemperer). Dead cats, rats, eyeless baby dolls hanging everywhere...the usual. Anita Berber does her nude serpent dance no doubt hopped up on coke and ether. Trippy Weimar goodness, but sucked in that I couldn’t hear what everyone was saying. Buncha German words on the screen...weird. No color, either. Look for a young Josef Mengele as ‘Pepe’.

34.) Hannibal (2001)

I've seen this one many times too, but it keeps growing on me. At first I thought it was such a let down from The Silence of the Lambs. I don't really feel that way anymore. Julianne Moore as Clarice has become fine with me as well. And, as always, Anthony Hopkins always delivers.

I've read this book several times too. Think it might be one of the only movies where I liked the ending better than the one in the book.

24. The Reaping -- New

"A former Christian missionary, who specializes in debunking religious phenomena, investigates a small town which seems to be suffering from the 10 biblical plagues."

This one had Hilary Swank as the lead, with Walking Dead's David Morrissey and our The Dark Tower Idris Elba. Stephen Rea who has been in a ton of great work like The Crying Game, V for Vendetta and Interview With the Vampire to name just a few.

Interesting enough to hold my attention. Moments of wondering who is the bad guy, who is the good guy. Figured it out pretty quick but still an entertaining scary movie.

3. Earnest Scared Stupid.
4. John Dies at the End.
5. The Stuff.
6. Carrie (the new one).
7. Jennifers Body.
8. Creepshow 2.
9. Jurassic World.
11. Terrorvision.
12. The Dark Secret of Harvest Home.
13. Gargoyles.
14. Horrors of the Black Museum.
15. The purge.
16. Asylum.
17. Requiem for a vampire.
18. The Nest.
19. The Devils Bride.

Another Hammer film. In this one Christopher Lee acts as a kind of know it all white sorcerer against the forces of a satanist cult who want one of his friends to be number 13 for a bakers dozen necessary to function but first he must be rebaptised by Satan in a ritual on April 29th for some reason. Lots of car chases and hypnotism and magic conjuring but all ends well and love conquers even death. Within ten minutes I was rooting for the Devil though.

Neesy's List

1. Son of Dracula
2. Alias Grace (well, what happened to her was horrible)
3. Arachnophobia
4. House of the Witch - teenagers trapped in abandoned house on Hallowe'en are terrorized by a witch
5. Carrie (at the motel last night) - the one from a couple of years ago
6. My Soul to Take (on SyFy right now).
7. It (second viewing at the theatre tonight).
8. Nightmare on Elm Street 3 at the hotel in Deer River MN.
9. Messages Deleted (2010) was on TV today - more of a mystery than a horror but there were some gory parts.
10. Pay the Ghost (2015) with Nicolas Cage - a professor frantically searches for his son who was abducted during a Hallowe'en parade.
11. Child's Play - sort of watched it but mainly it was on because son and GF were watching it - seemed kind of silly to me.
12. Silver Bullet - on AMC
13. Christine (yup - that one with the classic car)
14. Thinner (Die well, white man from town).
15. Blood Honey - Tortured by the memory of a childhood trauma, a woman returns after a decade to her family's fly-in hunting lodge to assist her siblings with their dying father, only to find herself stuck in a life threatening nightmare.
16. Firestarter - on AMC with George G. Scott, Martin Sheen, Art Carney & Louise Fletcher etc. - forgot how many well known actors were in this one.
17. I watched an episode of Hoarders on TV - this lady had 50 cats! Man, it is amazing and scary to see how bad these places become - enter the crew in the HazMat suits :no_pig::shame_pig:
p.s. She was saving the dead bodies of her cats in the freezer.

Sorry to quote myself but I'm unsure of how to copy and paste on this iPad

18. The Curse of Frankenstein - 1957 with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, on TCM

Thanks for the rec Dana Jean ! You are much kinder in your review than I would be. :smile2: But that's what's so great about this marathon - everything's subjective. I thought it was a good movie.

#16 Hostel - I really wish I hadn't watched that.

I've got to find some haunted house movies that I haven't seen. I'm watching some **** I really don't want to see just so I can get to 31. Lol! I'm so very grossed out right now!

Then you might like "The Nesting" which is my number 20. A writer from the city with agoraphobia out for a ride in the country spots a house just like one she has described for an artist to go on the cover of her latest book. She rents it of course and discovers it has ghosts. The ghosts turn out to be just a tiny bit murderous. It's an engrossing story and by the end you understand why they are the way they are and she understands why she is the way she is. It's a tad hysterical in places but it works somehow.

1. The Blood on Satan's Claw.
2. Necromancy.

19. Legend of Hell House

"Physicist Lionel Barrett and his wife lead a team of mediums into the Belasco House, which is supposedly haunted by the victims of its late owner, a six-foot-five serial killer."

Another one of my old time favorites. I love Roddy McDowall in almost everything he does.

He made anything he appeared in just a little bit better. I loved him, and he was fantastic here. This is a big one for me too. I guess my favorite haunted house film after 'The Haunting', with Julie Harris. The conclusion should have been almost funny. Without Roddy it probably would have been. The British actress in it, Pamela Franklin, I thought for years was the same person as Judith Chapman, and American actress, but just doing an American accent. I could have sworn they were the same. Doppelgangers! It was compounded when I saw Chapman as an alien on the old Battlestar Galactica, doing a fake British accent! But side by side I can see some differences.

PamelaFranklinJudithChapman.jpg

The slightly younger Franklin married & retired from acting (now that's a pity), Judith Chapman, is one of those work horses who's kept plugging away.

Have a look at the top 25 of this list. There are some good ones. You may have to use to use search feature to find them.

The 70 Best Horror Movies on Netflix (October 2017) :: Movies :: Lists :: netflix :: Page 1 :: Paste

Cheers. That's a decent list overall. Some I've already seen, others are already on the list but I was on the fence about watching them. Then there are those that aren't available on Netflix UK (looks like most of the better ones, actually; e.g. no Jaws over here).

On with the marathon!
1) Gerald's Game
2) Dead Rising: Watchtower
3) The Thing (1982)
4) Area 51
5) Piranha (1978)
6) Quarantine
7) Lights Out
8) Viral
9) Black Lake
10) Cat's Eye
11) Plan Z
12) Alien: Covenant
13) Pandorum
14) Blair Witch
15) The Black Room (2017)
16) Dog Soldiers
17) Friday the 13th (2009)
18) Maximum Overdrive
19) Navy SEALS: The Battle for New Orleans (aka Navy SEALS vs Zombies)

20) It Follows - Others have described this one already. Nothing very new, though the twist on the cause of the 'curse' is certainly a bit different from the usual 'haunted video tape/text message', and the performances were generally good. I did feel that I may not be part of the target audience, though.
21) Alien - because it has to be done, even if watching it now and comparing it to more recent ideas and offerings makes me want to write a long letter to Ridley Scott. ;)

It was nothing special, but decent enough. I've watched some really bad ones so far, so that one in the scheme of things was better.;;D
