19) Can I count three episodes of Mindhunter (2017)? It's pretty damned horrifying, and very interesting. Not a big fan of the lead actor--his performance is too stagey--or the sex with his girlfriend because who cares? I'm not 12 and getting titillated by a a boob or a butt shot and hearing a few naughty words. WhatEVer. The show, though, is very good
20) The Girl With All The Gifts (2017)-Mike Carey adapted his book very well! The movie isn't as detailed as the book, and he moved some exposition forward, but that's to be expected with a POV change from that of a little girl to a camera following everyone. I enjoyed this one quite a bit! The scenes with the gnarly looking 'hungries' were unsettling (and the makeup was very, very cool!). I'll definitely watch this one again (FTV)

21) Tales of Halloween (2017)-funny, gross, and there were even a couple of scenes that were creepy. This movie is a hell of a lot of fun! Like I said in an earlier post, think Goosebumps with more gore and swearing (FTV)

33. Funhouse

"Four teenage friends spend the night in a carnival funhouse and are stalked by a deformed man in a Frankenstein mask."

This is an old 1981 movie I saw at the drive-in. And it freaked me right the f out. That horny, drooly funhouse guy was scary and a person felt great sympathy for him. Poor baby.

22. Beyond the Gates (FTV)
Owner of a VHS rental store mysteriously goes missing, and his sons suspect an old video board game may have something to do with his disappearance. I really wanted to like this one more; it had so much potential and a great concept: think Jumanji as a horror movie with an 80's VHS vibe. Unfortunately the execution was pretty lackluster, the film has a lifeless quality to it and the whole opportunity was ultimately squandered after a decent setup. It just wasn't interesting enough in the end to feel worthwhile. Add this one to the list that critics seemed to like and horror fans disliked (Rotten Tomatoes critics 80% approval, but viewers only 31%). Watch the trailer on YouTube but don't bother with the film itself.

2.5 out of 5 stars.

I agree with your assessment of this one. I tried sitting through it but couldn’t stay awake. Not very good.

I caught this on TV and though I own it I couldn't turn the channel. Imagine one night when you were little your father came to you in the dead of night to tell you the lord had sent an angel to say your family had to kill demons in human form and would soon send a list of who. Imagine he then carries through with the murders and involves you. That alone is a horror to the psyche but it goes farther. More I won't say but this one is in my top five. Most famous line- "Only demons need fear me. You aren't a demon are you?"

27. Hocus Pocus.

Watched it again with the grandkids. A sentimental fave because my daughter liked it so much when she was young. Sarah Jessica Parker was kind of hot in this one and I don't even like the way she looks. I guess it was the way she acted.

I love Bill Paxton in Frailty. I think he is so damn good. Great movie.

22) 1922 (2017)-Pretty good show! I can't figure out what kind of pseudo Southern hick accent Jane was trying for, but it was distracting. It was a good adaptation other than that.
Now I'm up to date!

Completely agree! There were times I thought his accent was spot on, then others where I was completely befuddled. Sounded like his jaw was wired shut or something. But overall very, very good IMHO as well.

I have known many people during my life that have talked exactly like he did, farmers actually. I was completely drawn in to the story as I felt it all rang true. I loved it.

I thought it might be a regional thing. This was set in Nebraska, right? The farmers around here (at least the old timers) speak with a heavy German accent. My grandparents were Germans from Russia and completely bilingual. They would argue in front of us in German so we wouldn't know what they were saying (I miss them so much). My mom grew up understanding German, but only speaking words and phrases. I wish I would've learned more from my grandparents before they were gone.

So, to make a long story shorter, I sincerely didn't mean any disrespect whatsoever. Just because I couldn't place the accent doesn't mean he didn't do an amazing job! :smile2:

In Nebraska? It sounded more like Arkansas to me, but that's neither here not there :) Thomas Jane is a very good, underrated actor. I think people forget about him because he disappears so completely into his roles. It was a good show.

The Strain Season3
Phantasm
Unfriended
Phantasm! Love this one. Also in my top 5. It's low budget, choppy edited, some off kilter acting, but man does it work somehow. Greatest horror device ever in the ball.

1. The Blood on Satan's Claw.
2. Necromancy.
3. Earnest Scared Stupid.
4. John Dies at the End.
5. The Stuff.
6. Carrie (the new one).
7. Jennifers Body.
8. Creepshow 2.
9. Jurassic World.
11. Terrorvision.
12. The Dark Secret of Harvest Home.
13. Gargoyles.
14. Horrors of the Black Museum.
15. The purge.
16. Asylum.
17. Requiem for a vampire.
18. The Nest.
19. The Devils Bride.
20. The Nesting.
21. The Plague of the Zombies.
22. Fright Night (the old best one).
23. Beneath the Darkness.
24. Tucker and Dale vs Evil.
25. Train to Busan.
26. Frailty.
27. Hocus Pocus.
28. The Walking Dead.

I'm counting this one because of course I caught the premiere but I also watched some of the shows leading up to it again. I have never missed an episode. Not only that but I followed the comics before it ever came on TV. Not only that also but we have vacationed at the filming sites in and around Senoia. Also also I may not get all my movies in in time because WE ARE GOING TO WALKER STALKER THIS WEEKEND! Already got pics paid for with Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, and Bruce Campbell. I can't wait!
