29) The Final Girls (2015) FTV – Thanks fushingfeef for the rec. This was quite good and as someone who watched all of the 80’s slashers in my teens, I did, indeed, love it! It was well done, and I particularly liked how they portrayed that they were trapped in the movie (ie: running away over and over again, the van driving by 92 minutes later!) 4/5

I almost made it to 31 this year! Woohoo!! My best so far! I could count 29 1/2 because Halloween 2 was on in the background while I was giving out candy, but I missed most of it.

Here is my final entry

28. Bates Motel (episode 1 & 2)

I got my five season blu-ray set a few weeks ago and decided to watch a little of it tonight. I have resisted watching any of the old episodes until the complete season came out on blu-ray. It was interesting watching these first couple of episodes again. There was a little mother-son murder bonding established in that first episode.
As I slowly make my way through the blu-ray set, I'm going to keep a body count on Norman (and Norma - she has a couple too). I'll report my findings in the Bates Motel thread as I go along.

28. Nipples Of Death 3

Not what I expected at all. I really didn't expect this to take place in a hardware store. The brass nipples in aisle 3 come to life and go on a rampage.

Rated R for male and female threads

I was reading through the posts and discovered I left out the best part of my joke. I was all jacked up on Halloween candy and couldn't focus. ;-D Here's what I forgot: Rated R for male and female threads and scenes of graphic coupling.

Thank you muskrat for Nipples Of Death 3 ;-D

1.) House (1985)

2.) Let's Scare Jessica To Death (1971)

3.) From Beyond the Grave (1973)

4.) The Pack (1977)

5.) Scooby Doo Meets Batman (1972)

6.) Halloween with (The New) Addams Family (1977)

7.) City of the Living Dead (1980)

I eked out seven. About 13 hours of my life all told. Nice Halloweeny numbers. My picks skewed fairly old skool, it seems. I may still watch The Ghost & Mr. Chicken!

If you haven't seen it, (it's on youtube) Halloween with (The New) Addams Family (1977), was fantastic, and a nice farewell to the old series. Shot on videotape, it's quite surreal. John Astin was/is a genius! A word I don't bandy about that often.

Lurch, that's French! Stop the car!

City of The Living Dead (1980) capped off my 2017 Hallows-een of scares. Christopher George was a genius! :) Well, you be the judge.

Oh how I love this film. This was the first in Lucio Fulci's unofficial trilogy of spaghetti horror which includes The Beyond and House by the Cemetery. During a séance the gates of hell get opened -- Mary, one of the attendants falls dead. Later, reporter Peter Bell (Chris George, aging but still studly at fiddy, who would tragically pass away 3 yrs later) visits here grave and this iconic scene takes place.

Yow! Oddly enough, afterward she is fine. You'd think being buried alive would make you nuts. But not this gal. Later, her & Chris George roadtrip -- oh how I love readtrip movies -- and even join in teasing sexual banter! She recovered nicely. Ha! Now that I've whetted your appetite, watch it! It's on youtube. The last scene is not to be believed. But first, this happens.

You opened my spoiler? You are a plucky one! Brace yerself.

Chris George gets his brain pulled out from the back of his head. Nice teeth!

33. The Void (2016) (FTV)
Hospital is besieged by white-cloaked hooded murderous cultists intent on opening a passage between the worlds of the living and the dead. I really enjoyed this movie, which very much felt like I was watching a lost John Carpenter movie from the 80's, without being an outright homage. By all appearances, the special effects were 100% real practical effects, and even the backgrounds appeared to be mattes rather than CGI. This film was something between Hellraiser and The Thing, and the tension was high and the gore plentiful. The last minutes are a bit vague and mysterious so if you're looking for a simple pat ending, you might be scratching your head. But I think the weirdness and mystery worked for it rather than took away from it. Great finale for Halloween night!

4 out of 5 stars.

Thanks again everyone for participating! You make invaluable contributions by sharing your great lists and recommendations! I'll be referring back to this thread all year to catch up on all these great horror movies! It's also cool sharing company with others who have the same interests and tastes, but I guess that's what the SKMB has always been about!

I'll wait a couple days for everyone to catch up posting their final counts, and then I'll try to get some final tallies together.

Okay, time to recognize the sheer amount of participation we had this year (and this was one of the best, I believe), here are the totals I have, using the best available posting information on the thread.

Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of these, and please don't take it personally if I accidentally left anyone out! It was tough to keep track of everyone. And for some people, I don't have a clear number or wasn't sure if they were participating, but they were posting here about movies they watched so I included them!

Ummm - yeah - you're right - it was only 31, not 32! I told you I was bad at math :laugh::add:

But since I watched Thinner twice, maybe I got more out of it the second time? That was when I saw the clown's face in the blood on the windshield

Sorry folks - late to chime in due to being, as Bill Murray says in Stripes: "unavoidably detained"...
I didn't get anywhere near 31, which is a bit of a let down, but I guess there's always next year (as a Cub fan, I can pull that phrase out faster than my wallet).

However, I did manage to sneak a couple in just before and during the 31st:

13) The Devil's Rejects: I'm not really a fan but it happened to be on and I figured since I had just watched House of 1,000 Corpses, I should try this one again. I don't care how Roger Ebert rated it, this is an ugly film. At least its predecessor has an element of fun to it. This one is satisfied to just be revolting. Is it better made from a technical aspect? Yes, I'll concede on that. I assume Rob Zombie is going for a Last House on the Left kind of experience here, but jeez. The movie is a joyless experience. 4/10 as at least the cast is solid.

14) Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Meyers: It might be the weakest of the entire franchise and a person could lose their mind trying to keep up with the continuity, but what the hell, it happened to be on AMC at the time so I watched it again anyway. The opening moments are reasonably effective, and I always love Donald Pleasance, even though he seems exhausted in a "where in the hell is my check?" sort of way. It's crap, but it's still Halloween, so I'll take it. And it's more fun than the Devil's Rejects. 5/10 only if you love the franchise, otherwise it's probably more like a 3.

I started A Cure for Wellness on Halloween night, but it got too late so I haven't finished it yet. So far so good. I also finished the season of Mindhunter, which is a damn sight scarier than most horror films.
