Anyone watching this Monday?

I expect Breaking Bad to have a great showing, though I think True Detective will be it's biggest threat. I really liked Fargo and I thought Collin Hanks, Allison Tolman and Thorton were great and deserving of an award. I love Mad Men, but it's popularity has dropped a lot which is too bad.

As for comedy, I only watch Girls and Orange is the New Black. I think Orange is going to do well.

Anyone have any favorites and hopeful winners?

...I normally don't give a rip about award shows, but Billy's tribute to Robin is one portion I WILL watch....

It was a nice tribute, coming at the end of what I call (irreverently, Grandma says) The Roll Call of the Dead, but fell a bit short, I thought. Not to take away from Billy Crystal. His eulogy was heartfelt, genuine. They played a few nice clips (much of which we've seen, because they've been prominent) for a couple minutes.

Nevertheless, it did activate what Mark Twain referred to as our "permanently impaired and leaky waterworks." I liked it; just wished there had been a fair amount more.

And since I ended up sitting through far more than I anticipated, it seemed that Breaking Bad got the sympathy send-off from the voters throughout the evening. But for all I know, they richly deserve it.

And Brian Cranston, while undoubtedly a very fine actor, made his point about the kiss on Seinfeld way too long. Mr. Cranston: When she's trying to push away and it seems to be nonconsenting, it's time to frickin' stop. Unless you're trying to give us the impression, "Oh! He was that kind of date."

Given the setup and her response afterwards, I'm pretty sure she was in on it.

I think so too... for the first 10 or 15 seconds. After that was excessive - and I thought to her as well. I could be reading it completely wrong. But I thought she was pushing back, and he didn't let up. That's when I started to get uncomfortable, even offended.

And.... I could be overanalyzing. I've done that before.

Big night for Breaking Bad! I'm glad the Ozymandias episode got the recognition it deserved. It was one of the most intense pieces of film-making I have ever seen.

HBO is definitely going to regret not nominating True Detective as a mini-series. They were banking on McConaughey leading them to big wins, but it backfired. Though it allowed Fargo to pick up some much deserved wins.

I was surprised Modern Family still gets a lot of love. I thought Orange was going to take over, but maybe next year.

Here's my response to the supporting actor in a drama series award...

...it most certainly heartfelt, but I think I was expecting so much more-that it fell flat for me...nothing against Billy, just had expected to be reduced to a quivering puddle of snotty nosed goo, and that didn't happen...

After 40-ish years of entertainment, so many different characters, such far-reaching good cheer, and a solar mass of guffaws and belly laughs, Mr. Williams really deserves his own well-crafted remembrance show.
