OK, gang. Workin' on a little something I'm hoping you can provide some thoughts on.

I'm working on a guitar customization project and am looking for some opinions on the theme. I'm going to be putting an image on the pick-guard of the below guitar:

For those of you that don't know what the pick-guard is, it's the black section of the guitar pictured above. It's a removable plastic piece. I'm going to have one custom made with an image on it.

I have three ideas in mind:
  • Shark theme
  • Werewolf theme. Specifically the August illustration from Cycle of the Werewolf.
  • Some sort of Calvin & Hobbes theme. Most likely my current avatar.
I have done something similar with another one of my guitars. If you look in Scott's Photoshop thread you'll see it. It's the white one with the Xenomorph on the pick-guard. It looks pretty rad!

Anyway, what do y'all think?? I'm leaning towards Hobbes but am not sure if it's too cutesy. Feel free to provide other suggestions as well.

I'll share pics once the project is done :)

Nice guitar, my last Floyd Rose system was on an Ibanez RG350DX, it was well mean, they're a PITA to restring though. I used to customise my guitars, only problem is a few months down the line I'd think "that's crap, I'm bored of it now, change it again, and so on, until a year later I'd think "what the **** was I thinking?, I had a classy black Les Paul (albeit a cheap version) now I have a hunk of crap".

If you're sure about it, I think a werewolf theme would be cool. If I'm being brutally honest (sorry if I offend you) if you paint something like your avatar on it, it would look like something a 14 year old Japanese girl would play. But I know - each to their own.

I will be keeping the original pickguard so I can swap it back if need be. That's what I do whenever I do projects like this.

I hear you on the cutesy factor of Hobbes. Will probably not be doing that. Thanks for the input!
