Added the stories to the Nook store. Oh, that was a joy, reformatting all the stories for a different bookshelf, uploading, reviewing, reformatting, lather, rinse, repeat. Or not.

Up and Down - A Collection of Short Stories by Jason Meadors | 2940158013157 | NOOK Book (eBook) | Barnes & Noble

Out of Time - A Novella of Mystery by Jason Meadors | 2940158013133 | NOOK Book (eBook) | Barnes & Noble

Chance Encounter - A Novella of Suspense by Jason Meadors | 2940158013126 | NOOK Book (eBook) | Barnes & Noble

Someone's going to tell me I just have to put them in the Apple store. I can feel it.

Anyway. I've got a relatively short novel finished that Gracious Host/Koontz type readers would enjoy, or so I'm told by a few Gracious Host/Koontz type readers. I was just going to self-e-publish, but I'm doing the dreary route of pitching to agents first just to see if there's a nibble.

And then another regular-sized novel in the wings that is more like Important Literature, at least to my age-addled mind. It's finished but is on simmer till I get back to it and start the editing that it desperately needs once the first pass was done.

I've got two others started. Not sure which one to go with first. "Which one would sell?" my friend asks. "You think I write these things because I think they'll sell?" I respond.
Best of luck with them!

Got the cover design for the new book.

I'm going to a local writers conference this next weekend. I'm hoping it's a chance to meet with some agents and publishers. If I can't find interest there, I'll upload this cover and the story the following week or so.

I was told I have to have cards for this thing, too, which does seem prudent. Trouble is, I really haven't bothered with writer cards. So I ordered some.

And now that I've shown them here, I see that the background to my logo isn't matching the background to the card, even though I take a fair amount of care in Photoshop to match them up. Argh!!! That's that hazard of DIY. Sigh.

And yes, I do have email and phone on the full card. I suddenly got shy about putting my cell number and email address in such a public place.

Just so you don't have to feel bad about it, we wouldn't have allowed your phone number or email on the board.

Do you have the Grandpa image with white background?

There are different ways layers interact with each other in Photoshop, and you could "multilply" a white BG with black lines layer so all the white sections will look the color of whatever layer is below.

Gracias, César. I do, and I'll get it figured out - but on my screen, the design looked fine (until I uploaded it here), and I ordered it, and it'll arrive on Wednesday, and I need them for Friday. I just kept it to 100 cards, because the titles on the reverse side will change, and it's up to me to kiss the boo-boo and make it better for the next batch.

Thank you, Ms. Mod!

And I got my first review on Amazon. It's for "Chance Encounter," which is not my own favorite story, but I think is the strongest one for readers of what I submitted.

Five stars and a nice commentary.

Yay.
No, seriously, yay. Made my day.

I just opened my kindle to download Chance Encounter. I'm looking forward to reading it :) Unluckily, I'm not real good at plugging in books so I have to wait for the kindle to charge before I can download it :(

Chance Encounter was a great story! It kept me interested from start to end and the characters' quirks made them very real :)

I had forgotten about you-know-who until you-know-what, and then it took a bit of thought before I said, Oh! That was pretty cleaver :) I don't think I've ever read anything like it.

Some of your scenic descriptions were very visual, like you've seen the scenes yourself in your travels. Do you describe what you see in your head when you travel? One of the scenes made me feel like I was watching an Alfred Hitchcock movie.

I like the hard case crimes cover too :)

High praise! Thank you!

Yeah, I have driven through areas like that many times. But I'm kind of a "scenic" person. I've done a fair amount of photography, and landscapes are my favorite and, I believe, my best photo work.

Bouncy, you made my day. Again, thank you. :D

I’ve always been a firm believer in that you only use the standard business card in standard business practices. If you want something to make you stand out from everyone else, or have people take notice, then spend the little extra money and be creative... and do something that wouldn't end up in the circular file.

Nobody throws out bookmarks...
