Hope it works for him. They say smoking is the hardest habit for somebody to break. Something like a %6 success rate for people who can keep to their word and not start again. I know folks that have kicked Prescription pill habits that still go off the deep end if they can't have a smoke.

I've been throwing the idea of quitting around for a while. I'd like to lie and pretend it's for some high moralistic reason or health concern, but honestly it's the money. A pack of my brand, Newport's or, as a last resort, Kool's, is going for about $7 a pack now and is supposed to go up again early next year. At a pack a day that adds up to over $2,500 a year. I could think of alot of better ways to spend that money. I tried switching to one of the generic brands and couldn't do it.

Somebody last year suggested I switch to the E-Cigs, but the fluid for those things cost even more. Kind of defeats the purpose, in addition to the fact that I've tried them before when friends of mine have switched to them and they don't work. I could puff on one of those things for an hour straight and walk away wanting a smoke. If I quit I'm gonna have do it cold turkey.

Good luck to you. I never had the habit, but I'm about the only adult in my immediate family who didn't/doesn't smoke. I've watched various people try and fail again and again, but I've also seen them be successful ultimately. sometimes it takes a few tries, but if your motivation is strong enough, you can do it.

Johanna, I am glad you boyfriend quit smoking, that's really good for both of you. And that's a really great deal;-D My boyfriend also quits smocking now, he almost doesn't smoke anymore. He took this decision right after we started dating and I am sooo proud of him! Anyway, that's a bad habit and there are many better things to do in life=D

Some states have free programs available to help people quit smoking--maybe yours is one of them. I think they came out as a result of lawsuits against tobacco companies and the settlements including setting aside funds to be used for this purpose.

My boyfriend haven't smoke since he did the deal with his dad. But his dad haven't still bought the car to him. I
don't know if he get car or if he have to buy it himself. But I am proud of him that he have stayed away from smoking.
And he haven't been cranky either, so that's a good thing too.

He's wrong about that. Here's a link to a site that will give you more information about cigar smoking and cancer and how cigars and cigarettes compare.

Tobacco is tobacco. Cigars are tobacco leaves rolled up. try talking with him, explaining your concerns for his health and yours- Second hand smoke can make you sick. If he wants a future with you, he needs to re think smoking- anything. Sending positive vibes.

That's a shame. And everybody's right. It's exactly the same, whether it's rolled thin, fat, or stuffed in a pipe. Sounds like a little bit of denial going on. I hope for his sake and yours that he can pry that monkey off his back.
