Everyone, I can't thank you enough for your kind words of advice. I've had a long chat with my Dad today as well. I'm going to go back to Boss A and ask him what he is offering wage wise. He asked me to tell him what I earn now. I figure, as he has approached me, I'm going to ask him what HE is willing to pay me. I know it's not all about the money. However, I am pretty secure where I am now. The firm I am with now are pretty much tops in the town. The firm he is with, does well. However, the branch in the town I work in, is their poorest performing office. Hence their desire to shake it up, by putting a new team in there. Will keep you posted. Sorry I haven't been posting much and I'm guilty of not keeping up with what is happening with you all. But I'm here, and will be on here more, and send you all many hugs. ((((The Board)))))

Good call. Make sure what the money will be before you make the leap.

And if you p.m. me I can give you the names of more than a handful of good glove manufacturers...easier to ship than shovels. They must produce some good shovels in England, my guess. Too, best to bend the legs when digging as it is easier on the back. Best of Luck! :)

I'd jump, for all the reasons others have mentioned - Boss A was in charge when they kept you on, loyalty ultimately only runs one way, etc.
Even if the remuneration wasn't quite at the same level, you'd be away from some who's creating stress and, from what you said in the OP, wants to change you, at least in terms of the way you operate. (Which, to me, looks like a case of 'He's an a-hole and wants you to be an a-hole too'.)
Question is, if times were to get tough again, which boss would do their best to stand by you (again) and which would show you the door without so much as a second thought?

As for the firm you're at being the best in town...they won't be for much longer, if Boss B keeps pushing people to the point where they give serious consideration to leaving or feel permanently stressed. And seriously, what's up with that? Why load stress onto people in what is (from what I understand) already a stressful and time-consuming profession? A good manager should always seek to reduce pressure and alleviate stress - and will usually get better results as a...result. (Repetition. Damn it! :smile2:)

Have to agree. Take the offer. You know the boss and work well under him. And if Boss B is so stressful, that's impacting your life and your job performance, and loyalty won't make up for that. I would consider that situation more uncertain in the long run.

exactly this. If you jump ship because of this jerk, he's already losing one of the things that helped make that company so strong. A loyal worker that should have been treated better.
