That's right - next week's a bonus because it's short. We get a fall break the second week of October - the whole week, which is nice but honestly, I'd give that up for a longer summer - I wish our schools didn't start until after Labor Day. We started Aug. 10th.
Oh yeah, I forgot about stupid fall break. So all the rich parents can take their kids to Florida--same for Spring Break--let's take a week off school 6 weeks before we're done. I would so gladly add these two weeks to the summer. Plus, when you get them back to school, they act like they didn't learn anything before school was out. Teacher, I doesn't know how to science no more.

 Oh God - yes! My kids will forever think they're missing out on life because all the rich kids go one 3 vacations a year. I bet it does suck for the teachers. Let's just plow through the year and have a longer summer.

I would love that. No one listens to me though. 'We will go to Florida in April, June, October and December and then post lots of pictures on FaceBook so we can be assured that everyone knows how much fun we had and we can know how very great our lives are.'

They're thinking about doing something here along the lines of adding an hour or two to the day and they end up going for two less days during the year. I'm not sure if that's quite right but it's along those lines.
Would you guys rather have longer hours and less days or vice versa?

Yeah, perfect lives, perfect vacations. "Nothing to see here. Look how cool we are. We're SUPER family".......Here's a good one. I don't Facebook but my wife does. My brother-in-law and his wife are in the middle of a knock down, very messy divorce, complete with one of their kids dropping out of high school to boot, however..........all of them are still posting pics of smiling happy people type pics on Facebook. It's like the illusion of projected happiness is much more important than trying to actually solve their problems. It's just bizarre.

You said the "F" word!! xD ;-D
Oh how I hate facebook. "Look how cute I am. See where I ate lunch. This is my perfect family on my perfect vacation. We are entitled and I love to show you how wonderful my life is."

I gave up on facebook - I had a friend who I really liked, and I knew her struggles - difficult marriage, a wild child, money troubles - yet she constantly "overcompensated" on fb. It became crystal clear to me that facebook is a fraud. I know not everyone is a fraud, but it gets me all riled up. I have to stay away.

This drives me nuts. Who are they kidding? All of their fans? I can't stand it. I have another friend who I gave up on - she was way too into how cute she was. And she is indeed a beautiful woman, but dear God! Do you have to have 30 people a day tell you how great you look? What does it matter? Really! My daughter calls that kind of person "thirsty". Desperate for the approval of others - that has to be a horrible feeling.

That's a good way to describe it. I watch people at my work all the time, it's rare any of them go more than a few minutes without checking Facebook on their phones then comment back and forth about it each other. It's like some bizarre cult everyone belongs to and I have no idea what the appeal is.

We stand united. I wish they'd shut the site and every one like it down. It's poison for the fragile egos of our tweens and teens.

Meh. Worried financially. I'm just kinda that way anyway, though. Worried, I mean. Except for when I was a kid it's been hard to enjoy life. Everyone who really knows me knows this about me.
I know you worry, Blunt. We all do to a certain extent. I have financial issues as well, and it can really stress you out.
Just know we are here for ya. :)
