Hello! Newbie here! How are all of you?

To make this intro post a little different than the standard, I figured I would post my top 5 most underrated King novels. I'm a fanboy and can count on one hand the only books he's ever written I flat out disliked. All the rest range from passable, to good, to great.

1. Dolores Claiborne
2. Lisey's Story
3. The Long Walk
4. Roadwork
5. Dreamcatcher

That last spot is always a toss up as I think Duma Key, From a Buick 8 and Rose Madder are equally forgotten or unloved, but Dreamcatcher makes the list because all the fans I've run into in real life HATE it. The only other person who I've met that liked it was my wife!

Now I'm not sure how these books rank to any of you guys because I'm totally new. I've found out from joining message forums for certain fandoms that opinions can vary wildly from the "norm" which is always fun.

And just to end this post with a little bit of fun controversy I'll post the one book I think is mightily overrated: The Shining. Please don't hate me! I don't think it's a bad book, I just never took to it like the rest of the world.

Great first post! I can do you one better; I think SK's most overrated book is... The Stand. One of my all time favorites is The Regulators. So yes, this is a fan site where you will encounter people with opinions that are all over the place!

Welcome to the SKMB! I think there are as many sK best-to-worst lists as there are his fans, and that they're reversible by anyone who'd try to use them as reference sources.

I loved Dreamcatcher. The Duddits character was very compelling for me, as was how the boys all protected him (and his mother, come to think of it).
But hey, to each their own.

I had a hard time reading Dreamcatcher the first time. I think the sh*t-weasels put me off too much. After several years, a re-read made it better for me. Curious... what are your few that you didn't care for?

Ones I didn't care for flat out would be:
Cell
Cujo
TommyKnockers
Insomnia (may give it a re-read sometime soon due to having a better grasp on TDT mythos)
Colorado Kid

Ones I felt were just ok or disappointing:
Full Dark, No Stars
Just After Sunset
Desperation
Thinner

I agree with you on one. Tommyknockers was another I had to force my way through.

Insomnia is one of my favorites. Different opinions are what makes the world more interesting.
