We have a list of fees for certain classes. And certain classes in the vocational categories require the purchase of certain equipment, tools, etc.....I took Cosmetology in high school, and was required to purchase a kit, a uniform, and shoes. My daughter was accepted into a visual arts class, and the additional fee is $15. I'm not complaining about that. I was aware of the class fees when she signed up for them. The thing that bothers me is the fact that neither our state nor county offer any type of funding or support for certain courses, and therefore, cause the need for fundraisers.
Here is a list of fees for this school year.....I was shocked that Physical Education requires a $10 fee per course.....my best friend's daughter is taking at least one PE course every year, and most likely two.

Wow, I cannot imagine having to pay fees for courses in a public school. The only fee I ever had to pay for my daughter in 4 years of HS was a one-time $30 senior year "graduation fee" which I'm assuming went toward diploma and cap & gown.
EVERYTHING else was voluntary.

I would flip my lid if that came home with our son.I get peeved doling out $50 every year for "laptop" insurance. If a kid has a laptop he can use he shouldn't have to use a school issued one. I get so mad about schools not getting the money they need when our prooerty taxes are through the roof.

I love that form! I get so tired of the fundraisers, I usually just send some money. And each child of has a $20 Tech Fee, $20 Computer Lab Fee, $20 Math Fee, $30 gym uniform, $10 agenda book. Public school is not free, that's for sure.

But mostly right now, I want one of those cookie dough tubs. I do buy those from whichever child in the neighborhood is selling them. YUM!
