That opening with the dog was brilliant. And the whole build up of the story, the tension. I was right there in that car with them. He is so talented.

Not only the dog, but he kept a couple of different stories going in one. His character development is so insanely good. Plus his transitions from one character to another. No one has every come as close as he does as a writer, who keeps me on the edge of my seat while reading. I am interested in everyone he creates. He really doesn't have a boring character. Everyone plays their little part and he ties it up nicely. The ending of Cujo was heart wrenching in so many ways.

So heart wrenching. And he does switch from one character to another with such smoothness. His books generally make me so nervous, I will have to put them down and walk away sometimes. Sometimes I can barrel through the anxiety producing scene, but many times, I'm just tied up in knots!

The audio enhances that, it forces you to listen to every single word. (in my opinion I speed read when I am almost done with a book and sometimes might be a few words here and there. However, there is something to be said with curling up with a book, smelling the old paper or feeling the smoothness of a new book. AHHH. Ok, enough posting for now. I am going to go read!

I agree with the character switches and think it gave the book a good flow from the nightmare of being trapped by Cujo, to the character developments outside the farm. Great reread! Just finished the last few pages at work...shhhh! What's next?
