Ok so some of you are suggesting going to the extreme and reading all the connecting books first. Wow, not sure if I want to do that.

Don't you feel that in reading chronologically in order of publication that you make the connections more naturally as they "happened"?...

...read what YOU want, you've asked for opinions and received them-so don't question back, obviously you already have a reading agenda in mind...

Yeah my only "agenda" is to converse in a positive manner about my favorite author.
I'm with GNT. I wonder what the purpose of the OP's OP is.

I'm confused by your confusion. I asked one further question to help me guide my next reading choice. I thought that was the purpose of a forum. Not everyone has the same advice here so I simply asked another question to those that want me to read DT-related books 1st before the DT itself. I've been nothing but respectful but suddenly feel a little less welcome.

Fair comment. I can't see that you've done anything wrong.

Please don't feel that why. I honestly don't know why some people jumped on you the way they did. You were just weighing the pros and cons of people's suggestions. You did not come off as argumentative to me or as someone with an "agenda."

...I'm that "some people"....and though I'm in the minority and thought an ass, I stand by my comments...I didn't casually throw the snark lever down...I never do...I think long and hard before I post a comment that might be interpreted as hurtful...there is no ill intent or hate here, but I shall retire from any further comments due to having become the 320 pound gorilla in the Thread.....

Don't stop posting. I agree with all you've said so far in this thread. The OP should just read what they fancy at the time (apart from DT which is all one book). You are hilarious and I love your random thoughts. Cheers me up no end and adds brevity where it's needed!

No one told anyone to stop posting. I'm the one that was told to take advice and not add further questions to my own thread. But if you've read through this entire thread then you clearly will see its history man, lets move on. Its all good. There are no gorillas in any rooms. Everyone has their own voice and opinions and I valued everyone's advice.

And if anyone is still curious I decided to read Peter Straub's Ghost Story ( to prepare myself for future readings of Talisman/Black House ) and now very excited to begin Firestarter- staying in chronological order as to where I am in general. Cheers!
