All's quiet on the AHS front. What's the verdict people? Was it a good season premier?

Ha! Not surprising. I don't watch it - it's too much for me. I read on the sofa while the Ogre watches. So this year he thinks it's OK for our 12 year old daughter to watch it. And then, um, well it turned pretty raunchy, torture - porn style, and he's going "this isn't appropriate" in this shocked barely there voice because he's too mortified to speak as he remembers that his 12 year old is sitting there watching it with him.

FFS! I'm like -"get out of here, this is not for children!". My 12 year old had her eyes covered but she must have seen something that made her do that. However, she says many of her friends watched it, with their parents, last night.
:shock:It's not a kid's show for certain. Something about fear, pain, crying in agony during sex, it's just not what I want my kids to know about sex. It just is not appropriate.

Live and learn.Oh my God. So, I think it's pretty edgy, creepy, torture porn, and I can't watch it. I watched Season 1, but that was pretty mild. The opening scenes of Season 2 scared me off. I didn't even try with Freakshow. After the bit I caught last night, I know I can't watch this one. Those kind of visuals won't get out of my head.

Yeah, it is over the top....and I am far from a prude. My daughter is 18 and I felt uncomfortable, so I can't even imagine watching with a younger child!
18 is way different than 12. I was talking to my 23 year old daughter today and she wanted to get off the phone so she could watch it - she recorded it. And when I told her I thought it was torture porn, she said "oh yeah! I can't wait to watch it!" Le sigh.
I'm not a prude either, not by a long shot.

I loved it! That sequence of them getting ready, going out, getting that couple, the sex (it does warn you) and the end... that whole sequence was perfection. They snagged me in with some puzzles and people. I adore Denis O'Hare - he's totally fearless in any role he's done with AHS. And the set design! Wow!

Yep. I'm in.

You'd be surprised how many parents see no problem with their young children watching "torture porn" (excellent description, btw).

Wasn't impressed. They tried to be shocking without a story to back it up, and without giving the audience any time to care what happened to any of the characters. The acting and dialogue were ATROCIOUS, with the exception of Kathy Bates and Denis O'Hare, and Gaga wasn't bad either. Stupid people doing stupid things stupidly. Pass.

This is a perfect description.

I don't know why I keep watching this.Every year I think this. But I can't seem to stop! I thought the premier was great! Yeah it was over the top but when has AHS not been over the top.I also cannot stand Lady GaGa but am trying to ignore that fact.I think the storyline is great! I think they hit on SO many different horror aspects in one episode.I always remember not to eat while I watch this show. Our son is 15 and I tell him I don't think it's something he should watch. He can if wants to but it's not really his "thing" anyway.

Did anyone else think the carpet in the hotel looked familiar?

I totally ripped this off from skimom2 - she's great with words!

Not even just "sodomizing". Sodomizing with what appeared to be a large steel screw. I had to avert my eyes.

Oh dear Lord. I didn't notice that. I just glanced up when my husband started trying to get our 12 year old out of the room and saw a bit of what was going on. That's disturbing.

Yup. Carpet from The Shining, but the pattern was slightly larger.

I watched it last night. I don't want to say I "liked" it, because as many have said it was very uncomfortable at times. And of course, I may never feel comfortable sleeping in a hotel again
what with things crawling out of mattresses!
but I am hooked by the story and want to know more. It's just weird and freaky enough to make me squirm but unable to look away!

HollyGolightly - I apologize for cracking up at your description of your Ogre trying to get your daughter out of there. LOL

I've never even seen this show at all. I don't get that channel and I suppose I could rent the series or try to see it on-line somehow, but it never really had any appeal to me. Now that Gaga is on it, I will have to get the boxed set when it comes out. Sorry, folks, but Gaga is tops in my book. I haven't seen anyone come along in quite some time that has 1/10th of her talent. I think this show's premise is perfect to show off her acting chops. I hope she blows everyone away with her turn as the new owner (?) of the hotel.

I think it's cool someone finally found a USE for Gaga, at least. Heh heh. Sorry, Kingfish, I had to do it.

(To be truthful, I do think Lady Gaga is a talented, wild chick--it's just that she's a straight-on dead ringer for a crazy ex girlfriend of mine, and she scares the hell out of me--perfect for the horror genre, I'd wot.)
