YES!! It is good! It is a departure from the shock via gross and weird and a return to good old fashioned horror like the first season. Totally different presentation this time. Cool too.
It did play off Blair Witch a little it seems. Didn't want to spoil it since they had it obscured as to the plot this season.

I agree with Hoss, it's good! And I liked the different form of presentation.
Except for the shaky camera, I don't remember much about Blair Witch. I was thinking it was like those crime scene reinactments on some tv show I've forgotten the name of.

I could see both the Blair influence and those reenactment shows. I'm thinking the principal players end up okay, as they are speaking and telling their story from the past.

yeah, I thought about that too, we know they live so it kinda spoiled the suspense. Do you think each week will be a different story? I can't imagine how else the rest of the cast will get to play.

I don't know. They've been so secret about all this.

My only thought is, maybe they are telling the story that happened in the past, and then we will jump into the story "as it's happening." You know, we think it's the end of the story, and boom, the hand comes up from the grave, so to speak.

Oh! That would be cool :)

Y'know how Rotton Tomatoes supposedly let the cat out of the bag by saying AHS6 was titled The Mist? I guess that was just a ruse :( I was all excited season 6 might be about creatures emerging from a mist lol

Yeah, I heard that and was wondering, what happened to that?

Some buzz on the Internet that the upcoming season will have a connection to The Mist. I wonder if King has been involved at all?

The current season started last week and it looks as though the theme will be the Lost Colony of Roanoke (at least in part). If that is the case, I think Storm of the Century would be a better tie-in than The Mist.

Almost missed this. It's airing earlier this year (over here at least) and there's been little or no fanfare, unlike in previous years.
I've not watching AHS since about halfway through Coven. The idea of Freak Show did nothing for me and Hotel seemed too 'out there' (even for me) from the ads I saw and reviews I read.
I'll admit that it was the 'Roanoke' thing that grabbed my attention this time around. That's a mystery and a half (or so it seemed 20ish years ago when I first heard of it), so I was intrigued by what they'd do and where they'd go with it. So far, it's not quite what I was expecting but it's been good, and those in the know say it's much more of a return to the 'good' days of S1 and bits of S2 rather than in keeping with some of the weirdness of more recent efforts (though having not seen half of S3 or any of S4 and 5, that's not for me to say).

I'm enjoying it so far. I started watching with Freak Show, so like you, I can't comment on how it's changed over the years. I do have to say that what really amazes me, is how the actors can switch between characters so well from season to season. Sarah Paulson and Denis O'Hare are the best at moving from one character to another without making me see what they did last year. Some actors never learn that skill. Looking forward to tonight!

Yes, I agree. The cast really do a good job. (But how dare you not mention Lily Rabe! ;))
I've got to wait until Friday for some reason. Used to air Tuesdays on Fox over here, but if there was a shift in the States then that'll be why.

Ha! Ok, I was about to say because I didn't remember her from Freakshow or Hotel. But, I went back and checked. She was briefly in one episode of Freakshow as her character from Asylum (which I missed) and in one episode of Hotel as serial killer Aileen Wuornos and I absolutely had no idea that it was the same person as this season's lead, so yeah, she's on the list too! :encouragement:

I loved the first season of this show, only watched 3 eps of season 2 before the torture porn was too much for me, watched part of season 3 (and meant to get back to it but never did), wasn't interested in the carnival season, and got tired of the bloody over the top sex vampire last season and quit watching. I keep hoping for the season that will grab me as quickly as season 1. Any hope this season?
