I have watched the first 40 minutes of last night's ep and was wondering if anyone else was watching, since chatter has been minimal this season.

skimom2 - I agree with Tery. Give this one a shot. Big difference from last season's over the top sex and glamour, to say the least. And the subject matter is just spooky!

OMG! What a fantastic twist and idea! I was a little miffed at the end of Ep 5 because I felt like too many unanswered questions were hanging and I didn't know what they were planning. This is a great way to tie it all back together. And Kathy Bates!! She is amazing! I'm dying to get home from work so I can watch the last 20 minutes. It will be a long day! LOL

I'm really liking this season too. Different concept. We'll see how they finish this up.

I loved the first season. That was the best.

But, I did like last season. The sex and gore was overdone, but I liked the premise of the hotel, as it was an easy way to keep things fresh, introduce new characters and constantly be changing as guests checked in. And Gaga really did a good job with the character she was given to play. It fit her.

My least favorite season was Coven. I felt that one was pretty weak.

I have only watched the last 3 seasons, but I enjoyed them all and simply adore the way the actors can so vividly portray such different characters. So much talent involved in this project.

And, yes, I did feel that The Countess from Hotel was the perfect vehicle for Lady Gaga to begin her acting career. Haven't seen enough of her in this season, but I am intrigued
by the Druid huntress and hope we see her again.

Lol, based on the responses here, I have come to the conclusion that I must like torture porn and sex lol. I loved the other seasons but this one doesn't grab me all that much. I find it kinda boring by comparison.

I first started watching during the Coven season. I loved that so I binge watched the first two seasons. I liked them all. Each has its own flavor and I'm all about flavor ;)

Yes! This season just threw us a huge curveball! Not to give it away but we thought we were watching one thing when it took a big left turn. Scary as he11, too. I recommend you catch up if you can do so. It's shaping up to be a blast (and minimal sex).
I don't have an issue with sex, except when abusive sex is used to titillate (season 2--Bates Motel was like that for me, too. It's all in how the shots are framed and how long they go on. It's personally horrifying to me), or when sex is used as substitute for story. I got bored with the gory, bloody Gaga stuff last season. After the first couple of sex scenes I felt like, "Yes, yes, we get it, she's sexy and a vampire--now get on with why we should care."

Thanks for the advice--I'll see if I can catch this season :)

Is anybody else up-to-date on this season?? I need to discuss!!

First, OMG!!! Shelby killed Matt, then herself!:icon_eek: There's only a few folks left and supposedly only one survives!! Who do you think it will be?? I'm hoping Sarah Paulson's character, but at this point, I'm thinking it's going to be some random person who brought coffee during the filming or something crazy like that!

Now for the rant:
Is anyone else bothered that the Druid priestess (Gaga character) is just not around? She got abandoned by Matt in the original filming and never came out of the cellar, then he comes back "FOR HER", gets interrupted during their tryst, Shelby bashes his head in and ... Nothing? Really? She's waited over 400 years for someone to love and now she's just going to disappear? If she doesn't come back into this, I am going to be majorly disappointed.
End rant.

I'm still liking this season. Would love to hear anyone's thoughts!=D

I'm right there with you. I think the format of this season was an interesting route to take. But, I'm wondering the same things you are. They are wasting that priestess. She just skulks in the cellar? And your insight made me laugh! It probably will be some random boom operator.

Did you know that Chaz Bono was one of the characters?

Accents aside I've enjoyed this...even with the curveball.
Sarah Paulson's first "I'm British!" line had me going "No, you're bloody well not" and Kathy Bates, while being generally good (as usual) and even excellent in the 'back half' episodes as Agnes...well, WTF is that "Blud Moooon" cod-northern stuff about? Can't fault either of them for trying, and Paulson in particular comes very close to pulling it off, but...wow.)
It's actually made me want to watch eps back to back, where even in the second season I ended up watching the final eps more out of a sense of duty. And as I've said before, I gave S3 a go but didn't get close to finishing it, nor have I ever been fussed enough to go back and try again.

I was so excited to hear the title of this season because I LOVE history, and have always been fascinated with the lost colony. I don't know anything about the plot, though, but I'll watch out of curiousity. My husband and I can only watch AHS on Netflix, so we only recently had access to last season, Hotel. I'm not enjoying it much; I can't really tell if it's the plot that's not grabbing me, or if the novelty of the show is wearing off. I'm getting put off by all of the gore. Same thing happened to me with Walking Dead around season 4 or so. It's too gross.

Man, last night was insane!!

Everybody died... well, except for Lee who, judging from the preview, is going on trial for all those deaths. I read an interview with Falchuck and he said that this season would throw us curve balls a plenty. Just when we think we're watching on thing, it changes. He wasn't lying. I was very disappointed to lose Wes Bentley so quickly, as I was Evan Peters and Denis O'Hare. All of them are just amazing actors, especially O'Hare. He is not afraid to inhabit the characters he plays. I also agree that the Druid Priestess is being wasted. I wonder if we will even see her again?

Word is that the next season will be a Murder House/Coven mash-up. I'm thinking that some lingering questions will be answered.

She was briefly in the last ep. She handed Lee a heart and that's what turned her into the "new" butcher. But, it was a grainy, brief look, so my new hypothesis is that Gaga was busy with other projects and they didn't want anyone else to play her character so, instead she was down played. One reason not to have special guest stars that have acting as a second career, I guess.

I have been reading through this thread periodically and I'm very intrigued by this season. I will say that I have never watched AHS nor will I ever; I am just not into episodic TV. That said, if anyone would like to try to give a synopsis of this season without getting too wordy (under a Spolier tag of course), I'd love to hear what it was about. I tried reading through the Wikipedia entries for each episode but go so lost. I'm not asking for details; just a few sentences. Thanks!

Edit: I just reread this post and it makes me seem like a lazy bastard. I'm not! It's just that you all seem so stoked about this that I really just want to know what the big curve ball was!
