Who cares about the threads! We were a wild bunch in our salad days. Marsha was a wild and prancy lady. We would have to tie her up, put her in a corner and feed her with a slingshot. Didja know that Spidey and Pat would try to hotwire the Magic Bus in order to kidnap Jerry Garcia with hopes of driving across America? Twas about this time Flakey and I decided that operating a still to make Kiwi whiskey would be the absolute berries. Madame Mack was just as likely to streak through the back yard and dive into the fish pond. John would shake his head and mumble about HIM not being the only Pagan.
We are the oldtimers and you better mind us now!

Hi Guys,
I've been a member of SKMB since March 2012. When I joined we were still on the old board, Gentle Giant was on often, as was dear Blundthead. So many members have come and many have gone in the past two and a half years. Muskie and Sheemiee are gone as are many other of the informal collaborators.

Even though I haven't been able to chat much lately, I want you guys to know SKMB feels like home. I miss you guys. Life has sucked lately, but I look forward to Friday night Reading and Discussion Group to re-connect. Thanks to Morgan who wins a perfect attendance award but also to those who drop in and make the discussion go.

I think the MB has changed at least 3-4 times since I've joined. Members posting often comes in cycles- Summer see less as children are home, life activities. Job change, change in life-- marriage, caring for an ill family member-- all make time coming to the MB less. Sometimes they just need a break ( like you might change the type of book you read, they just need a change) They are still with us. We are family and always will be.

"those were the days", Staro. We all could write a book. What I remember was the first MB- one long page, no threads, You best write down a post # when you replied cause there were no reply button.

I've only been here a little over a year, but I think the Kon threads - 2013 and 2014 are fun, with pictures. The Selfies thread. MiseryChastain's thread "Who Are You Really? is a good recent one.

The thing is, this new board format just began last year (Halloween or Nov 1, I think), so there's not really old stuff on here. There's lots of folks who've been on forever, but the content of the board is new. The Cantina is where I got to know many friends. And sometimes just being bold enough to private message someone or give them a profile post is fun way to get to know someone, and it's a little more personal. I'd look through Chattery Teeth and find the really long threads - that means there was a interesting/heated/funny/controversial topic going on with lots of personalities shining through.

I enjoy your posts and am happy you're here. I'm probably not the right person to answer this, but as a newish person myself, that's how I have gleaned through things.
It was October 31st last year - I recall it well, as I was setting up a new avatar picture at the same time the kids were coming to the door for candy!
Trick or Treater.jpg And I took this young ladies picture that same night!

I miss LiveWriting, which was a completely new, uniquely therapeutic and satisfying experience for me. I got lost somewhere between here and Indiana, as I recall. GNT, Vulture, and JohnDalglish were there, as was muskrat, SHEEMIE, SlinkyBass, and a grand host of others. It was one of the most important things I've ever done in my life.

I think I would have loved the group option. Not that I don't like talking to all y'all, but I'd be more open in a closed conversation. I know, you're thinking, please God, no more Holly sharing. But it's true. There's more. I do like the Private Conversations, but they're so rare. It's like finding the Golden Ticket to get a personal message.

I remember B. Your section was amazing, about your cave, and critters. You also said it was the first time you had written in a group. I had just starting feeling comfortable letting my most innermost thoughts out... Slinky who moved away. Each person here makes us stronger. :biglove:

I was a part of the Stephen King Message Board through Simon & Schuster's website in 1999. I remember Bev Vincent and Marsha from that time. I joined this site in 2010 but only started posting regularly about a year and a half ago. This board has kept me going and introduced me to several of the best people I've ever known. Thank you so much SK-not only for your incredible talent, but for this place that is a refuge for me!

I do miss muskrat and his Gary Busey fascination. I miss a lot about the other board. I always found the God Bomb social group assuring. Same for the Writers Group.

I joined in 2008, but I still consider myself a newbie and try to mind my Ps and Qs with the old timers who came here before me. ;)

Personally, I've always liked the What's Your Theme Song thread. I love seeing what tunes people are listening to and sometimes I discover something new or rediscover something old.
