I agree that ancestry.com is over priced at least, but I think you pay for the info to be consolidated and the software that helps you access it easier instead of manually poring over census records etc.

I wouldn't be surprised in the LDS church owns Ancestry.com. If you have a LDS genealogy library in your area (check--you might), the info is available for free. Just takes some digging.

Hmmm, didn't know that. I've traced mine about as far as I am able to and am interested in the DNA test just to find out some things like how much Native American blood I have even though I know it won't tell me which tribe.
I just wonder if they are accurate or not.

I think some people misunderstand the "Everything Else" title of the forum and put things that are of general interest here not realizing the Everything Else category means it does not fall into the Politics or Religion issues for Hot Topics. No problem, it happens fairly often.
This isn't exactly the right spot but couldn't find another one where you've posted so going to ask now while it's fresh in my mind. It came to me yesterday that I think I remember you from having been on the Board before shortly after the Guns essay came out. Aren't you the same person whose daughter was trying to find funding for her college?--I think there was some sort of site where you could vote to help her out that you'd asked us to help with. I might have you confused with someone else but that's my recollection.
