Would it be considered an annoyance when you work with someone who just plain doesn't work? This being a Union job there isn't a damn thing anyone can do. This also being an infection control job I would prefer not to pick up a floss dispenser that is covered in blood because someone decided to leave it that way. Or use the restroom after someone has decided to wear their surgical gown in there....I could go on but I won't. I might decide to take a Silkwood shower.

I want to be very careful how I phrase this, but we recently brought in someone who recognizes his "uniqueness" among us and makes no secret of how he believes it affects his "job security." It is far more than merely annoying. I find it beyond reprehensible, but perhaps we ought not move the thread in that direction.

Actually "uniqueness" is the perfect way to describe this situation. The problem is that there is nothing "unique" about her and we all know it.

My attention span is short. I am embarrassed by it but can not help it.

See . . . that's why I mentioned the generational thing.

People who have grown up in the endless barrage of media in which we now have to function face different challenges than I ever did in my formative years, and that is a very real problem.

I'm not blaming young people, but I do think it is something that should be addressed.

I manage some people and things so I am probably the annoying one. However I hate people who eat with their mouth open. One guy eats an apple like he is making out with his first girlfriend when he he was 12. Every. Freaking. Day.

Yeah mine is most likely due to bad genes. I grew up poor and read books mostly. No cable tv or internet for this young buck! But I find that I get bored after about 8 seconds of something. Even as I am typing this very message I am losing interest and concentration. I find myself re-reading the post that I am replying to to make sure I am staying on topic. But I do get irritated when I walk around and people are talking on there phone or texting on it or looking down at it while they are talking to someone.

Here I got something I posted on facebook the sums it up well. I will find it and post it.

ADD ADHD bitch please

you know whats annoying? I keep seeing this stuff like " if your house is a mess and you can't find your car keys you have ADD" pretty soon everyone including there pets are going to have an ADD label just because they are raised on video games and cant pay attention to more then one thing because its boring. There is a different from having a disorder that literally effects your life that cant be beat out of you "learned out of you" dieted out of you exercised out of you (both the physical and religious since) or having problems with concentration because your hyped up on 3 energy drinks a day and pulling all nighters on the PS4 and then cant focus on your work day or cleaning house. ADD should (at least in adults and teenagers) be taken as seriously as Bi-polar or depression. Because teenagers and young adults can be misdiagnosed bi-polar and depressed when in fact they are not MANIC but HYPER and slip into depression when they find it impossible to concentrate at work fallow instructions or maintain a job. Have relationships problems because your mind races to three steps ahead in a argument or three steps behind because you were not really listening. Your communication skills are considered poor because you either internalize a lot of what your thinking or communicate to much. You over empathize other peoples problems and make them your own and try to help and take it to heart when you can not help. You can do fantastic in one area and poorly in another so therefor are considered lazy in the area you do not do well in because your smart enough to do well in the area you do. ADD has been thrown out by the un informed public as something that kids have when they are annoying and can't sit still. But that is one very minor form of ADHD. One day that kid grows up and has to work and have relationships and be a grown up. And you don't just get to take a note home from work to your mommy saying "your daughter did not complete her job duties effective today" so don't throw labels around there so any naive person can use it as an excuse. When treated effectively with medication I can be a regular functioning adult. When I think that there is no point in medicine I can will my ADD to go away I slowly start a downward spiral in my life that can eventually lead to things as serious as suicidal depression. I can make jokes about it and say its ha ha funny but most of the times its not. SO before you accept a label of lifelong MENTAL ILLNESS that can have strains from not able to concentrate effectively to symptoms that mirror Manic depression bi-polar maybe talk to people who have been dealing with it the entire lives or read the book "All about Adult ADD" or something. don't just fill out a five question survey and think yep that's me.

It is long but I was pretty angry when I wrote it......Good times.
