My mother began teaching me to read when I was 4 years old and never censored my choices of books. I had my first library card at age nine. When I was 14 years old, my mother gave the small hometown librarian written permission to allow me to read whatever books were in the "Adult Section" of the library because I had read every other book on the library shelves.
I have been a voracious reader most of my life.

I've been a fan of Stephen King's writing since sometime in the 70's.
As with so many SK readers, 'The Stand' is my favorite book followed by 'It', 'Misery' and 'Dolores Claiborne'. There are other favorites, but these are the most favorite.

I love King's writing style and, once I begin a book, I can hardly put it down until finished. King's words flow so easily and he knows exactly how to end a chapter leaving me wanting to know where the story is going next.

I joined this online community in order to connect socially with other fans of Stephen King's writing as well as to feel as though I am letting one of my favorite writers know that he is appreciated for what he does.

Stephen King rocks! :blues: :bat::tan:

Thank you very much, Ms. Mod! :smile:

Hi and thank you, Spidey! =D

Hello, right back atcha, SkiMom :)

Well, thankyouverymuch, BluntHead! You are very encouraging :welcoming:
....that's a lovely first post darlin', and reminiscent of many of our backstories....King most certainly has the "common folk" touch, even after his amazing success-and his magic with words is Merlin like....

Thanks, GNTLGNT (GentleGiant? :) ).
I agree that King's command of words is rather Merlin-like. I never thought about the "common folk" touch, but, now that I do think about... he does seem like someone we could have went to school with or grown up next door to, doesn't he. Maybe, it is this reason that his use of words is so magically familiar to us.

Welcome. I'm a voracious reader myself, since before I started school. My mom handed me Carrie when I was 16 and been a fan ever since. Welcome and keep posting.
Thank you for the welcome, DooWop!
To tell the truth, I cannot remember which of King's books I read first. I'm thinking it probably was 'Carrie', though.

Well, GG :apple:, IT is my guess that if/when the ugly claws of celebrity/fame (let's not even speak of the riches of hell :hopelessness::smiley_simmons:) tried/tries to sink themselves into Mr. King's psyche and being, Mrs. King kept/keeps Mr. King grounded and secure within his own humility and human-ness.
Yes, I'd say the man carries his profound success and humble beginnings with grace. :smile-new:
