I'm concerned my copy of The Stand is a book club edition. It has a price of $19.95 on the front flap and a gutter code of BB50 but the book feels light to me. It also doesn't have a barcode on the back cover, just a ISBN #. I weighed it and it's 960 grams at 823 pages. Can anyone weigh a copy for comparison? I weighed my copy of 'Salem's Lot and at close to half the length (439 pages), S's Lot is 632 grams.

I know this but dust jackets can always be removed and put on a different edition. That's what I'm worried about.
Most of the bookclub editions that I've seen only have one color of paper covering the endboards on the outside portion of the boards. I think Doubleday used a cloth material for the spine portion and then a colored paper for the rest of the endboards. Does yours have this?

Yes it does. I've seen many book club editions with the spine one color and the rest of the end boards another... What usually is the case is that the spine area on a book club edition isn't covered in cloth.

On the main page of StephenKing.com there is an FAQ section. One of the questions is 'How Can I Tell if I Have a First Edition'.

It is very informative and factual. Bev Vincent did an excellent job on this as it is very clear as to what to look for. I printed it off

and when I go to used book stores looking for titles I don't yet have, this article is always with me.
