I'm a Dark Fantasy horror author....oh and yes I'm a girl...lol.
Anyways, I'm hoping to meet fellow horror enthusiasts here who are also up coming writers to chat about the industry and whatever the hell else we come up with. I love Stephen King's work and am probably not alone when I say he inspired me.

Aside from being a Stephen King fan, I joined this sight hoping to find some advice. See I recently switched companies and now I am second guessing on whether or not that was a good idea. The company I was with decided to take more of a romance turn and I don't write romance...someone always dies...lol. So I thought by changing companies that was more horror oriented things would be better...the problem I am having is I feel like none of what they are telling me is true. Most of it feels like a pack of lies or I am just being lead on. I wanted to see if anyone had this same experience and how they handled it. I had an agent that screwed me over, I now have a new publishing company and I honestly thing that I am still going in the wrong direction...f anyone and I do mean anyone has any experience in this, I would sooooo appreciate any advice. Anyways, that's one of the things I want to talk about with people here along with so many other things. I tried to start a book club here in this small town but I was under the impression all any one wanted to read was 50 shades of crap...lol. So that was a bust. Who ever is reading this, what is the latest King book you've read?

Sorry, never had the benefit of using a career guidance GPS. Had to do it old school... with a divining rod.

Only advice I can provide is the catchall phrase I give my daughters for every life experience: “If it feels wrong, run away.”

(Currently reading Thinner. After all this time I’m just now getting into the Bachman stuff.)

That's actually good advice...I am starting to look around again. I don't know what will happen but it could always be worse. Thinner was awesome. I read that back in the eighties, I completely stopped weighing myself after that...lmao. I read the Bachman collection forever ago. My parents bought me a box set for Christmas one year. It had Pet Cemetery, Eyes of the Dragon and one other book but I can't remember which one. I was in seventh grade and that was almost a lifetime ago. I read all three books in three days...didn't sleep and couldn't put them down. That was my first introduction to King. AAAAmazing! :D

Welcome - I just finished the Drawing of the Three a few days ago and now I am on The Wastelands - it is really good, but I thought DT II was great in the way he compared Eddie Dean's world with his own.

I went to a garage sale and found first editions of IT and Tommy Knockers...I was like WHOOOO HOOOOO!!!
I used to have all his books until we had a fire. I lost all of them. But my family made it out, thankfully.

Glad to hear you're all okay - I started collecting his books about two years ago - you could easily get more copies. Can't wait until end of June to buy Mr. Mercedes!

Hi Joann.

I don't want to talk about the industry (my last Writer's Market is 2010), but I like to talk about the craft.
Happy to talk about the craft...it's something that helps me grow because you never know what you are going to learn from another person. :) I stopped getting the Writer's Market because of the internet...all the info right at the tips of my fingers. lol

I have a steampunk book in editing right now called Empires Lost. I love that story and am working on the third book in my Children of Nox series. That one has given me nightmares and I'm the author...lol.
