I did a few hours ago, and I gotta tell ya, I love it! I am using the new browser called Edge, and it is very fast! Everything looks so much better, and I wasn't long it figuring it all out.
I had my text size at 250 on IE, but on this one I have it at 200, and can see the pages very well.
I'm happy!

I downloaded, started the upgrade and left for work. I have faith it will work out okay (I couldn't bear to watch...)
Ever since I was burned with Windows ME, I wait for the reviews until I upgrade. Is there a deadline where it's no longer free? And if so can one download it as a file and perform the upgrade at a later time?

I was under the impression that you could reserve it while it was free, and then choose to download at your convenience.

Free for a year. I've been following the tech editor in the local paper and he seems okay with the upgrade. I generally use him as my "canary in a coal mine."

You have until July 29, 2016 to download the free version. I don't think you can save it to a file.
Thanks, that gives me plenty of time. Can it only be updated from Windows 8, or can you update it from Windows 7? (I also have PC's with XP, ME, 98, 95, and DOS 6.0 still on them. I doubt I can upgrade those. Just can't seem to find it within myself to throw any of them out).
