Non-spoiler - the ad-lib was when the spotlight was on two of the actors, when suddenly the spotlight went off, then came back up on them. One actor said to the other, "Well, that's Darkland County for you."

Also cool to see Ms. Mod's name in the program!
Must be nice to live in Maine! - I'm glad you enjoyed it - sounds like 36 bucks was a reasonable price for such a great show

I attended November 11th/14 in Toronto...my review!
A stripped down tale of my adventures the night of The Ghost Brothers Of Darkland County .
As some of you know, I saw the premiere in Atlanta. However, the full set, as beautiful as it was, actually took away from most of the songs.

With this show, the set was completely stripped down (a back-drop, few props)

I was amazed at the amount of music which I had forgotten! Gina Gershon and Billie Burke were excellent as Monique and Joe McCandless respectively.

It was nice to see Jake la Botz and Kyle Brown in their original roles. Jake as The Shade is pure evil delight. Couldn't take my eyes off him!
Gina took on Monique McCandless differently than the original actress. When GG came on stage with the rest of the cast, I said 'OH MY GOD' a little too loudly without knowing it. GG made Monique her own, a harsh, sexy yet slovenly character. She sat, legs akimbo wearing black tights, a bustier, spike heel boots and a cream sweater with pockets for her flask. Her accent was similar to Sharla's in Killer Joe . And when she sang, she BELTED out her tunes; made them her own too.
Billie Burke as the father of the brothers (Skunk) was excellent, as was his younger self, played by Zac Ballard. We also had a fabulous 'narrator'.
Kyle was also a joy to meet again, as Anna, the little 'Round-heels' tramp, who played the (living) brothers against each other, choosing the writer who looked suspiciously like Mr. K in his younger years. LOL

The music was, of course, superb. I wept at the same songs which I did at the premiere. In fact, I was so into it, I needed someone to grab my shirt, lest I fell over the balcony. This show was tight and not a moment of the story was spared . At the end, I was the first one on my feet, leading the rest of the audience to a huge standing ovation.

BTW, my son loved it (he didn't want to go and looked like someone pooped in his bed before we left). He said the next day that he wanted to see it again and had listened to 'Tear This Cabin Down' 3 times before school. I ordered the book/soundtrack yesterday. Can't wait until it arrives!
