I wonder if it is more desktop friendly than 8 is. I recently purchased two win 7 computers for work from Dell. You can still buy windows 7 computers in the business sales department at Dell (you can't buy win 7 in the home sales department) because people that use desktops hate version 8 so much. They sell you a win 7 computer and give you a win 8 disc to install if you choose. It seems they made version 8 for tablets and it just didn't work too well with desktops.

I've heard good things about the new version but I usually like to wait until I know some people who have upgraded before I take the plunge. Once you take that plunge, it's really difficult to go back if you don't like it.

No. I can't really do anything to my computer. I always manage to pick up a virus from he11 or otherwise crash it. I'll make do.

Are you, pegasus216 ?
Yeah, I am. I have Windows 8.1 now, and I have not had any problems. You can cancel the reservation if you want to.
It's free for windows 7, or 8, or 8.1 PC's, but for work PC's they charge. I don't know how much though.

No way!

Once you go Mac you never go back ;;D

I do use a Windows based PC at work. We're still on Windows 7 there. It'll take them a couple more years before they decide to upgrade us. Then they'll f*** it up.....

We bought SwiftMom a new laptop a couple years back for her birthday with Windows 8. I hate that OS with a passion!

I've got Win 8.1. Yeah, it's got big cartoon icons like your computer is a phone, but you don't need to use them, so don't if you don't like them. Me, it's handy to use them now and then.

I hear good things about Win10. We'll see. I've been through WinMe and Vista, so I don't automatically believe the Microsoft press.

I read the one about what they are taking off. The only thing I'll miss is the media center. I have a lot of my music there that I transfer to my cyberlink music. I only do that because the sound is better. So now if I buy a song from Amazon, I don't know how I'll get it to the other place.

Winamp is the music player that I use. It's free.

Winamp — It really whips the llama's ass!
