I only watched the first two hours, but I enjoyed it. AC/DC was fun, and I always love seeing Jeff Lynne, who appears to be having the time of his life. I wasn't impressed with Miranda Lambert's performance, nor the song, but for the most part it was entertaining.
Jeff Lynne is amazing. His body of work with The Move, ELO and The Travelling Wilbury's is beyond impressive. And the man doesn't age; he looks EXACTLY the same!

Madonna I think has finally become obsolete as a performer. Her big deal was to be new and shocking. She really has become a one trick pony. SHe didn't used to be that way, but she is now. Same type of choreography moves (we get it, you are in great shape.) Same type of scanty outfits showing us how in shape you are. And lots of half naked men. It's boring Madge. Wear a pretty dress and sit on a chair and sing and I would sit up and take notice. Quit hiding behind all the theatrics. And I wish they would quit calling her a dancer. She isn't a dancer. Anyone can learn choreography and if they are stretched out can hike their legs in odd positions. It's insulting to real dancers.
I'm sorry, but with all her working out and zero body fat, all sinewy, she looks like the Crypt Keeper. She has NO business wearing an outfit like that. It's just embarrassing. Neither her front nor her back are up to it.

Miranda looked like even she wasn't impressed with her performance while she was doing it.

I can just see Madonna seething back stage at this performance by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett. Madonna wishes she had 1/10 the voice Gaga has.

As much as folks like to bash the Lady, she is the real deal! She has the voice and the God-given talent to back her up. She can play many instruments, whereas our Madonna can maybe play one chord on a guitar (which she just loves to do over and over again at her concerts-it's one freaking chord, it don't make you a guitar expert!).

Madonna and Prince both started their musical careers at about the same time and were both using sex and shock value to jump-start things. Prince has super talent to back him up- he can play any instrument except horns. Prince has matured to the point where he doesn't need to revert back to his hyper-sexual ways/songs. Did you all see the joy in the audiences eyes when Prince walked out on stage? The man has earned the respect of the true artists in the industry- he has personally changed how things were done back in the day and has ensured that many artists are getting their 'due' by being vocal about just what the record industry does to rip an artist off ( for instance- changing the UPC codes of albums overseas so that the sales of the albums don't count towards the total of amount sold, hence a lesser profit percentage for the artist. He's also 'schooled' artists on their publishing rights, etc.). Madonna hasn't learned that lesson yet (about using sexuality to promote her records) and probably never will- it's her crutch. I'm picturing her in another 20 years looking like Mae West and still trying too hard. Did we all notice that the lace of her hat covered the top of her face so that we can't see how awful her facelifts have been? She needs to grow up now.

Madonna had two chances as I see it to prove she could go beyond the dance floor: the Sondheim songs written specifically for her for Dick Tracy and the movie version of Evita. She (forgive any pun you might think of, especially you GNT) blew it, both times. I don't know if it was her ego, but both times she seemed to shun any guidance and play it her way. Both attempts fell flat and neither one propelled her beyond her limited range. Where as Gaga paired up with a legend and allowed him to teach her what she needed to learn to build upon her talent and what she already knew. I love a lot of Lady Gaga's dance music; it's smart, playful and creative. But she is smart enough to know she doesn't want to end up like Madonna who at 58 has to still rely on puerile dance music, showing her saggy butt and acting like a twit to try to fit in. I always thought Madonna was smarter than that, but alas she hasn't seemed to really learn much over the years. Meanwhile Gaga is well on her way to actually building a career she will be comfortable with when she reaches Madonna's age.

Spot on! I liked the music from the Dick Tracy soundtrack (especially Going Bananas!). It showed a side of Madge we hadn't seen before. Harry Connick Jr. has a not-so-great story about being approached by Madonna's musical team to write the music for Dick Tracy. He worked on it for a while and then said that he walked away because her musical 'team' were a bunch of *sshats and said he would never work with 'her' again. They were trying to 'school' him on the music from that era- please, the man lives in the music from that era! As for 'Evita'- she campaigned so hard to get that role and was forced to have vocal lessons in order to finally get it.

The main reason I DVRd it was to see Jeff Lynne. Looking forward to it!

I would have hoped that Madonna was a woman smart enough to know when to hang up her hat. Instead, she seems to have Demi Moore Syndrome.

A friend of mine (a vet) said she watched Madonna's most recent video, and that she looked like a dog trying to express her anal glands. I think I'll pass on watching that!

Okay, had to come back to say this: When I say Madonna should hang up her hat, I don't mean as an artist. I'd be curious to hear what she has to say about life as a woman her age, and I'd love to see her act her own age, and not try to be Ariana Grande.

*Sigh* It's difficult being an older woman - I don't think anyone's commenting on Jeff Lynne's appearance. Unfortunately, when a younger artist relies on sex appeal to sell herself, it backfires down the line.

I did mention up above that Jeff Lynne never seems to age and that he pretty much looks the same. But... he never sold himself as a sex god or relied on his looks in any way to further his career.
