Fonts are artwork. Do a Google search about fonts. You'll be surprised at how much history and craftsmanship is involved. I for one love the use of type in a book cover.

No need to search... I work as a graphic designer... hence why probably a bit more picky :D

I have no problem with using type, but what you use and how you use it is what gets me. The type used for CARRIE is looks fitting as the painting has that real 70's era feel so the type fits with this, still doesn't really appeal to my design sense but I can find a link there. The type for Stephen on the other hand... erggh! Why use two different serif faces on the cover? Plus one is extended and the condensed. They clash. Well it isn't actually extended, it has been stretched or squashed. Look at the spine art, his name is in same font but has been left at correct proportions. Then there is the red stroke on it. This looks like it has been centred on the type which causes it to fill the letter losing the clarity of the white. I don't like it but if had to be on there should be set to outside and thicker to really punch up the white and make it stand out.

Sorry for the rant. Just explaining thoughts. When it is what you do for a job you analyse things a bit more and bugs me to see this happen.

<walks away and takes a deep breath> Love y'all :D

I never would have guessed this from your first post. It's all good!
I know what you mean though. I'm a copywriter so I parse every bit of copy I read in advertising. It can get very frustrating!
