I remember all my life, I have been a Fanilow.
Guess who's coming to my town in February?

Seriously, I've always had this idea to do for Barry Manilow what Catherine Johnson did for ABBA (you know, write a Tony winning hit Broadway musical based on his songs!).

I'm going to be there. I'm going to enter all the "backstage" pass contests I can find. I'm going to have my picture taken with him. I'm ecstatic.

...if you need any tips on how to score some backstage access, let me know.....I've played the game many times in my radio career...sometimes successfully, sometimes not....and despite all the jokes that have followed Barry around for years-he is without a doubt-a skilled singer, songwriter and performer....I Write The Songs and Another New Years Eve are personal favorites....

Gimme some tips! Backstage with Barry is on my bucket list. I've never heard a Barry Manilow joke. He's spectacular! I can't pick a favorite, I love them all.

...I sent some generic starters...mainly just be yourself and call the promoter or find out the name of his publicist or agent...tell them it's a lifelong dream...contact info is easily found on the ever present interweb...

Well, someone has to love it: Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl, but that was thirty years ago, when they used to have a show....

I can't remember exactly how I got this song in my head, but I do remember coming home from school early one day -- thinking I was alone in the house and singing Copacabana near the top of my lungs for some reason. I was happy about something -- when my little sister (who was supposed to still be in school herself) popped her head into my room and hollered. "Hey! Tony! You wanna keep it down!"

:a11:

That was Thanksgiving table conversation for years, let me tell ya!

"Hey Mike! Why don't you belt us out a little Copacabana with dessert and coffee?"

Absolutely nothing wrong with belting out a little Copacabana every now and then. My little fellow used to love to sing it with me. Now he's a big cranky mean almost 15 year old.

I'm starting to think that I've dreamed up the whole thing because I can't find it on the internet. Wasn't there a Carol Burnett spoof of Copacabana? I loved that one.

Love your new avatar! Great to see you! (((mike))) - cyber-hug. You've come a long way!
